File Manager

I just got my G4 on the 2nd day it was available! I like it so far but there is a learning curve coming from Moto...

One thing I do not like is the file manager. I have an SD card installed. But it seems like the stock file manager is showing me total storage when I just want to see the internal. Its telling me I have only 3.9gb available and I know that can't be just the internal. It shows 15gb of photos but when I tap on that it shows me the folders on the card as well.

Is there a better File Manager app out there? If I install one will it replace the stock one? I want to see the internal and SD card separately.

When they advertise this phone as having 32gb of storage that's a little deceptive because the system files at least on mine take up 9.5gb alone so the amount of storage is almost 1/3 less!

When you go into the file manager, it should say All Files at the top. Tap on that and it will show you both SD card and Internal Storage.

Yes, it does...but it does not disclose how much each folder uses or how much is left between internal and card. Under All Files it says 15.4 available, total 37.54. I have a 16gb card, so shouldn't the total be 32+16? Then if I tap on it all I see is internal and SD.

I looked at that one, then decided to try a few others including Total Commander. Plus, I hooked the phone up to my computer to look at it in windows explorer. I've got about 15.5gb of photos. But without those, the apps & ringtones and other small stuff takes up space so a 32gb capacity phone turns into around 19gb actual usable space for things like photo, video, large documents, etc..

When I go under Storage in settings I see the bar graph which is a little easier to understand (I think) than LG's stock file manager except that it does not show a bar graph breakdown of the SD card contents.

I guess I'll be moving some stuff to the card....and looking forward to that new (free) card from LG to arrive!

I think the best web file managing system is Filevista for Androids.FileVista turns your web site into a web file server in few minutes and lets you share files with your clients or staff using any browser or device.
