Root File managers/Data access

Fuzzy13

Being that not all root explorers allow root data folder access, let's compile a list of the ones that do. Free and paid.

Obviously root explorer.

Give he some more. Go!

Im using the lite version dont know if it dosnt allow data access but everything else is working i actually like this better than root explorer.

X-plore file manager beats root explorer hands down
linda manager, also easily lets you make shortcuts of ANYTHING to your home screen

I used the Root Browser Lite for a long time. When he updated the code, it no longer allows data access for my Esteem. I use the Pro version of Rom Toolbox now and it still doesn't allow it.
I use ES File Explorer right now.
I also keep a backup of the last Root Browser that did work.
I sent in a bug report when he first updated, and another when I bought Pro.
No word yet.
The downside with using ES File Explorer over Root Browser is that you can't view databases or see font previews.

Ok good. I knew i wasnt crazy.

Only ones I know of that allow data access if Es, root manager and Solid explorer.

I would love to know of more if anyone knows for SURE that they allow data access.

the 2 i mentioned do allow data acces

Yeah i tried x plorer last night and i wasn't feeling it. Plus every time i opened data and then apps, nothing would open. Yeah data would open but the apps folder wouldn't. It had a pretty cool ui though. Different for sure.

some people don't know that ES has root options in its settings. I think it works great.

Yeah, along with the ability to access LAN, ftp, and cloud services as a file explorer...
It certainly has some options.

When I used the new Root Browser on the Connect, it works just fine, it does not on the Esteem though.

If I open the Data folder, I see nothing. If I add an app folder and open it, I can see the apps. When I tried to overwrite fonts in \system\fonts it made copies instead. It couldn't overwrite system files.

That is when I made the change.
I like the new layout and would like to use the program (I paid for it, anyway), but until he finds out why it can't seem to get full root access, I have to wait, or use the backup of the old version.

I think ES is better than the old version, with the exception of the font previews, database exploring, and apk file exploring.

If anyone can get his attention better than I can, I would appreciate it quite a bit.

you have to allow it root+su+r/w mount access in configurations, you can also set the apks to open as zips

It was requesting su permissions upon doing so, so I figured nothing else had to be done. Ill play with it some more.
