Help File Transfer - Again

If anyone ever needed help.....I am now at breaking point on this.
All I want to do is copy picture files from my Windows 7 (64bit) PC to my new Iconia Tab via USB cable connection. I do not want to do it any other way (wireless etc.)

I have read a lot of threads on this subject and I have followed the advice. I have read the user manual, I have downloaded/installed the drivers as directed and I have installed ES File Explorer.

The current state of affairs is:
I can see the tab in Windows Explorer, but no directory/file tree on it. Any attempt to copy a file to the tab (drag/drop or copy/paste) is met with the message "The device has either stopped responding or has been disconnected".
I can see the tab and the folders on it under Windows Media Player. I can open the pictures folder on the tab and view the files. So I drag a file from my PC folder to the 'sync list'. But this is futile as I cannot 'Connect a device". Therefore no copy can take place.

Obviously, the USB connection is made because I can see the tab and the files under WMP. But what now?
As a computer 'user', not a technician, I just need it to be easy.

Thank you in advance for any helpful advise.

Steve

Plug the device in, it will show up as a "device", open the device and you should see the device storage, open that and you should be able to copy to/from the device.

Also if the screen lock is active it will disrupt connection.so if you have screen lock enabled try to disable it and see if that works. If I try to connect and I haven't unlocked the screen it will shoe the Acer as connected but no file structure.

Thank you, but this is precisely the problem. The device does show as a "device" under windows explorer. However, I cannot 'open' the device. Double-click or right-click / expand do not allow me to see the device storage.

Thank you. I have tried with screen locked and with screen unlocked. I even tried in different orientations (I told you I was desperate.)

One further thing which I do not understand is that, on each attempt, I was advised that USB was in 'debug mode' (whatever that means). Turning debug mode off did not change anything.

Thanks again
Steve

Well I'm kind of running short on ideas but here is another one.
Do you have this plugged into a usb hub or the computers front ports?
If so try the computers rear ports. You probably already tried this too but I put it out there anyway.
