Help File transfer from Samsung galaxy s to Galaxy note 3!

Hey guys I'm new to the forum, I'm not entirely sure where to post this but today I just picked up a Galaxy Note 3 and I would like to know how in the world to transfer my files and contacts from my Galaxy S i9000 to the note. It is driving me crazy I cant for the life of me figure it out! I have done a bit of research and all that I could find was Mobile Trans (which you have to pay for, so it is not an option) and I found an app called "Smart Switch Mobile" the unfortunate thing is that this app looks very good and the reviews are great, but however....ITS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE FIRST GEN GALAXY S!! please I need help! I want to thank you in advance, it is greatly appreciated.

Welcome AndroidManOne!!

Are your contacts saved to your Google account? If so, it's just a matter of signing into your gmail/google account on your new Note and all will sync:)

What other files are you looking to transfer? Sd card files?

Thanks for the reply! The things I would like to bring over onto my note are: Photos (stored internally), Sms, Contacts, Bookmarks, videos, calenders. And my google account is finicky so I would rather not use it, there has to be another way...hopefully

Welcome to Android Forums AndroidMan. For files you could try Dropbox (https://db.tt/JNHxctSe). This will allow you to do a camera upload over WiFi or Mobile data and can sync between devices and your computers. I rely on this for making sure that if I lose my phone I don't lose my photos. The link above will give you an extra 500MB free above the 2GB you get for signing up. That is all free. Here (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dropbox.android) is the play link for the app.

For SMS messages, I use SMS Backup + (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zegoggles.smssync) that is free in Play. This will back up all of your messages to a folder in your GMail account. You can then restore them to your new phone as well as keep them in GMail for an archive.:)

I hope this helps.
