Root Files from phone to computer

Hey everyone I'm new to android phones and need some help. I just purchased my first android phone a few weeks ago and I'm already knee deep in it. I'm considering rooting and was wondering if I could possibly download everything I need to root it to my phone and then send it to my computer. We don't have internet in my new house yet and I don't really want to wait. I'm running GB 2.3.4 on my dx2. Please and thank you for any help.

yes you can, what you need to do is just download it all to your phone, then connect your phone to your pc, and enable mass storage, go in and move the files from your Download folder (or wherever they downloaded to) to your pc, and thats all you need to do

Thanks a bunch! That helps me out tremendously! I'm assuming the method in newbie start point will work with 2.3.4? I just want to be sure of everything before I get started and thanks again!

OK I'm rooted now. If I could only figure out how to freeze the bloatware. I have titanium backup, es file explorer, and rom manager all free versions by the way. Can someone point me in the right direction please.

Oh and also how to make it faster. I'm not sure what its called I think overclocking? Any thoughts there? And sorry for the extra post and long windedness.

Go to the market and download Estrong File explorer. Once you have that installed go into the settings and turn on the check box for Root Explore and Mount File System.

Once this is complete, pick the "star" icon at the top left of the screen in the app. Select "Phone" then navigate to the system/app directory. In this location you will see all of the system programs installed. They will be *.apk and *.odex files. If you scroll through the list you will see file names that will match (or be close) the name of the app. Move the bloatware APK files and ODEX files to a location on your SD card just in case you need to put them back for some reason such as an over the air update.

I made a folder on my SD card called bloatware and put the files there and then backed them up to my computer.

As far as your other question...with a dual core 1ghz processor, I think this phone is fast enough. Overclocking will lead to poor battery life and isn't worth the minimal gains is speed.

No one has figured out how to overclock this phone yet, but with the custom ROMs and other customizations you can do it hasn't been proven really neccessary. It would be good idea if it was a single core <1 GHZ processor.

To simply freeze your apps with Titanium Backup, you need the paid version.

Hey thanks guys! Once I really figured out what I was doing I realized there was no need for overclocking , and prj I had es file explorer the whole time and just didn't know how to use it haha! I was able to freeze all the bloat with Anttek app manager (free version) by the way. As far as Roms go I don't really understand the process yet so ill hold off a little longer

Browse through the links in the Newbie Start Guide in the All Things Root subforum here. Lots of info there.

Until the bootloader and kernel are unlocked, you won't be able to overclock it, but as coolpoete stated, it's not really necessary for the X2. It runs pretty well once you optimize it.

Look for Zepplinrox's Supercharger V6 scripts. You can obtain them here:

[Script][U9 RC4!] ALL WHEEL DRIVE -=V6 SuperCharger=- FIX RAM & Launchers, 3G & KAK! - xda-developers

This definitely removes the lag and improves the overall responsiveness of the X2. I use it with the Liberty3 ROM I'm using.
