Root Final Check before Rooting

OK - after a couple of weeks of lurking, some initial questions, lots of reading and reading again and more learning I am going to take the plunge this weekend!

Can I just do a quick check to make sure that I have things in the right order please guys?

1: make Gold Card (and copy gold card img to PC)
2: Root (using unrEVOked - have checked and know my PVT, my HBoot and my erase size and all seem to be ok)
3: Take Nandroid Backup
4: Take TiTanium Backup
5: Partition SD card with GParted
6: Restore gold card img to SD from PC as partitioning the SD will have destroyed the gold card img.
7: Flash new ROM
8: Enjoy

Just wanted to check that I need to be rooted before partitioning - ideally i would partition before creating the goldcard but the FAQ seems to indicate I must be rooted before GParted.

And finally, if I flash the latest MIUI XJ will I also need to additionally flash a language pack or is it already in English?

Thanks Guys big time for all the help and encouragement getting me this far.

You can partition the card before rooting the phone. Naturally, first copy SD card content to PC (including hidden files).

In my experience partitioning WILL un-gold your card!!!!!
 
Yes - i knew it would ungold the card. My main query was whether i had to be rooted before I could partition the card. If I don't then the logical thing would be to partion, then gold, then root. Can I do it in this order?
