Help Finally, Battery lasted a full day (>24Hrs), single charge

Unam

Newbie
I have had the phone for exactly 7 days now, and I am very happy to share with you all that for the 1st time it has lasted for more than a day on single charge.:p

--->I have not rooted my phone
--->Nor have I installed any apps like juice defender
--->Nor do I use task killer at any point of time
I just let my phone do its own thing.
I would call my usage patter moderate, I am not a heavy user.

I have the Data Network Mode enabled all the time except when I am sleeping, I am connected to EDGE network, as I don't yet have 3G.
The apps which I keep on running all the time are

1.Whatsapp
2.Nimbuzz
3.NoLED
4.Antivirus Free edition
5.Background data sync always on

I check my mails using the manual sync method, I have disabled the auto sync, although the background sync option is always on.
I use the opera mini web browser mostly for web surfing as its quite fast over the EDGE connection. I do not stream music or videos I let my laptop do that.

Other uses for the phone besides calling and messaging obviously, is to listen to music approx 1Hr via Headphone and watching some videos on its gorgeous screen 30-45 min daily. Brightness is turned down to minimum when indoors and at about 30% when outdoors. Auto-brightness is off.
I keep on changing the wallpapers , use both live ones and static.

I am on virtually 2 days , with 26% battery left, I used 39% display and 18% android os , wifi blue-tooth gps only when needed , lowest brightness , fine for indoors , black wallpaper and 15 second screen timeout.

felt good to see it last full day with moderate usage though, the first week was bad, had to charge it at least 3 times a day, but then again I was continuously tinkering with it also.

is it coz i have auto/backgrond sync turned on that my android OS is always 40% or more?

That could be a part of the reason, but the main reason for this is the OS itself. Google has admitted that gingerbread has not been optimized for dual core devices and as such the battery drain is more for the OS. The next update 2.3.4, promises to resolve this issue. Till then keep a charger nearby.

When we get a smartphone and arguably S2 is the best of them out there, we cannot be expected to keep the sync off, use wifi sparingly or not use apps, why the hell did we buy smartphone for, if not to use its to its full potential.
