Root finally bricked my bionic =[

ok, I finally did it. I am running the Axiom ICS rom, and I went to make a backup. So I bootstrapped, booted into recovery, went to backup/restore, clicked backup. It went through the backup procedure successfully. So I selected Reboot System Now, and now I'm in a bootlloop, staring at the Axiom IONIC logo. I can't boot into recovery, or maybe I don't know how. When I hold volume down and power, I get fastboot. When I push volume up and power it just boots up like normal and get stuck at the axiom logo.

I have a feeling I'm going to have to use RSD Lite to fix this? some kind of SBF type thing?

EDIT

I booted into Android's recovery by pushing volume down, volume up and power. I selected "apply update from sdcard" and selected my axiom rom that was on the root of my sdcard. It said e verification failed, installation aborted. do I have to name the file update.zip or PB4z.blahblah.zip?

When you get your phone working again install safestrap and get rid of bootstrap. It's much safer to use safestrap than bootstrap. Try wiping data/cache in the stock recovery see if that helps.

you won't be able to install anything custom from stock recovery. If you have one of the OTA saved on your sd card you can flash that but I would just flash 5.5.902 with rsd lite.

flashed .902. Now I gotta start from scratch again =[

anybody have any advice on how to create a backup in the future that won't result in a bootloop? Somebody mentioned safestrap, but that didnt work for me. I would reboot the phone, and it would tell me to hit "menu" to boot into recovery, so I hit menu and the phone just booted up like normal.

What is weird is it seemed to create the backup successfully, it just went into a random boot loop while rebooting. I'm guessing some kind of bug with the ICS rom I was using. I know they aren't perfect yet.

Maybe just give Safestrap a try again. I've never heard of anyone pressing menu at the boot screen and not being taken to the recovery menu. You know that after you install the Safestrap APK, you have to open up the app on your phone and press on install recovery right? Sounds like maybe you skipped that step, and Safestrap installed on your phone and created the extra boot screen, but there was no recovery installed so it just continued to boot.

Download BionicSafestrap to your phone. Then run the APK to install the Safestrap app to your phone. Once the install is finished, press the open button (or open Safestrap from your list of apps). From within the safestrap app, hit the "Install Recovery" button.

I think regular Bootstrap works perfectly fine, but not if you are playing around with the ICS ROMs. I'm currently running Eclipse 2.2 which is just a Gingerbread ROM and Bootstrap works fine with this. But any time I've decided to try an ICS ROM, I install Safestrap, leave a stable ROM loaded in one partition, and flash an ICS ROM on the Safe side.

I'm a moron... I realized today that I was hitting the home button not menu. Safe strap works fine. Although before I realized that I found another way to get into safe strap recovery. Boot into fast boot or whatever it's called and select the option that says ”BP Tools”. Takes you right into safe strap recovery.
