Well after trying evereything under the sun to get better battery life out of this vibrant, including atk, turning 3G off, installing battery apps, rooting, setcpu, lag fixes, now custom roms today. I finally know why the battery blows

I simply can't stop messing with this thing that is why!!!!! It's always in my hand like a nice comfort toy. Hahaha

Reminds of when the iPhone came out and I was hacking that thing to pieces updating unlocking jail breaking selling buying.

I think I am a samsung vibrant junkie and I love it

Sorry had to share didn't mean to get anyone excited that I actually fixed the battery

You had me going, had my pop corn out and a can of pop on my lap ready to be opened. And then it was like ....

Im the same way as you man!

Last night my battery went from 96% when I went to sleep, to 15% when I woke up. Ad no I didn't sleep 24 hours.

No wifi, no live wallpaper, no bluetooth.

I bought 2 extra batteries from ebay that came with a charger. I carry those in my pocket or put them in my bagpack. Half the time I dont know they are their and I use my phone very heavily so its very convenient for me to have them.

cell standby was like 26%, and display was like 20%

this just happened for the first time (large battery loss overnight) or has it been an ongoing issue? sounds like an app errantly running in the background or a service that is running and killing the battery. if this behavior is new did you install or update any apps prior to this battery issue?

I've been beta testing Juicedefender and have had good results with it. But yea once you stop 'playing' with it, battery life gets better.

This happened to me once, except when I woke up the phone was completely dead. On the bright side, that following day after I gave the phone a full charge, it lasted for nearly two more days (with minimal use). I'm guessing there was something running that drained the battery and when I turned the phone back on, it had a fresh start and was able to get the ridiculous amount of standby time that Samsung claims.

That doesn't really help for the overnight drain. One would assume the display was off (in standby) all night. If you have poor 3G reception then setting it to 2G only should help by not constantly switching between 2G and 3G (cell standby taking 26% sounds like a lot to me, so this seems a likely culprit). If you have stuff like twitter and facebook with frequent background data sync and poor 3G that would cause a lot of extra power drain.
