Finally got a personal response from Samsung

Apple also only really has one iclone to worry about, whilst other companies have numerous different phone models to worry over. Granted, Samsung is in the shitter when it comes to timely updates/fixes.

yes, people have to remember that apple controls the hardware and os.

google just makes the os throws it out there and oems/carriers do what they will with it, which is where the issues come in.

now google can dangle the "no market for you" stick at oems and such, but they dont do that much or as much as they should imo

that being said android is so popular because of how many companies are using it, so take the good with the bad.
 
Wonder if by the "end of the year" is still the time frame for the update? Looking at about13 hours till the "end of the year"...they better start pushing the update out....

So where's your update? I've been posting in a few threads now. People keep telling me that it's official because Samsung said so.

The people who post on Twitter and facebook are not really connected to engineers of major corporations(there's a big pay band difference). If anyone believes that's official, they're crazy.

I have a feeling we'll be shafted forever regarding 2.2 OS. Samsung does not really update their products, and when they do, it'll fix everything but the true problems of the phone. And it'll see be 2.1-ver3 :P

as frustrating as the whole update situation is...many of us knew of samsungs bad track record on updating their android devices...so it comes with the territory.

those who post on twitter and blogs etc are given general information by those way above them about what they can say or not say...if 2.2 was never meant to come out, they would have been instructed to say nothing regarding vague timelines or any info.

2.2 for the fascinate exists...we know of someone whos been running it for awhile that works for samsung....screenshots and all...

the other sgs phones have had 2.2 leaks and thus there is less of a cry for updates as those guys can root and get froyo if they want....unfortunately 2.2 has yet to go to testing so they opportunity for an unsigned leak to get out....isnt great atm
