Finally got replacement Evo

Roughly 6 days ago my phone stopped receiving any data at or within 1 mile from my home. I couldn't connect to the internet, make or receive calls, or text etc. I couldn't even dial *2.

I took it to Sprint a couple of times, and they messed with a few settings and checked to make sure if I had the updated PRL. I had done a few hard resets prior to them touching it. They said they would swap it out, and obviously if I still had issues it was due to a tower problem in my area.

I originally had version 0002, the replacement is 0003. The battery cover is indeed the smooth, soft one. The screen is recessed deeper than my 0002 was even on day one. The power button sticks out further a very noticeable amount. My 4g seems to get better signal strength around my neighborhood, although I still don't get a signal indoors. Best of all, my 3g signal strength appears to be working at home which was the biggest concern.

My old Evo had the reported screen lifting on the bottom/severe light leakage as well as the grounding issue we have all been talking about. As of right now, none of these issues are present on the new phone. I'll keep an eye on it!

Good for you! its nice to have a good working handset isn't it?

I just got my version 2 one replaced with the version 3 today.
The phone has all those differences? NICE! I didn't even have time to setup or notice that yet. But it is nice to have a phone that isn't rebooting every half hour :)

I can't wait for all this hardware stuff to get resolved already so everyone can just concentrate on enjoying the phone instead of worrying about all the other crap. Looks like the new 0003's are getting a lot of stuff right though.

I was one of the fortunate few to get a EVO with hardware version 0003 at launch. Good luck with your new phone and hope you can now enjoy the awesomeness called EVO.

I can't wait so we don't need to see a new thread for every person who gets a 003 device.......

We need to just sticky a version thread and close ever new thread that repeats the same exact thing, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over

Word to the wise. Never buy release day phone. I learned that with the hero and pre. I waited a week and got a great one 003. Glad to see Sprint worked it out for you...now go enjoy your phone.

There are 003's with reported issues as well.......

Waiting a week is just like buying it on day 1. So I do not think you really accomplished anything.

Waiting a few months, now that is a different story.
