finally made the switch from blackberry

Hey guys-- New to the forum. I FINALLY made the switch from blackberry, when I got fed up with my 5th warranty replacement. AT&T offered me the Captivate, so I took their offer and ran.

Liking it so far... not loving it yet. But I still have a lot to learn (and probably a lot of customization to take care of). One thing I can't stand already is the battery life. Seems if you want to use the phone as designed, you'll need to charge it 2x/day to keep up!

My next step is rooting, but am nervous about ending up with a brick. Any words of wisdom?

Thanks guys! ordered my body glove and 16GB external yesterday... getting myself all set up.

One thing I was wondering about texting... I use the android keyboard, and noticee that random words will be capitalized, if the phone needs to "predict" the word. Any way to avoid this? Turning off Auto Capitalization didn't work...

Other than that, I'm just looking for a way to get rid of TouchWiz on my Captivate, and change the unlock screen. Rooting, I assume?
