FINALLY! Remove Vlingo / Voice Command without root (ICS Only)

if you use go launcher you can unistall voice command by going into the app draw

Thanks, just wanted to note that you can do with with APEX launcher as well. Just tap and hold the Voice command icon in the app drawer and then drag it to the uninstall area. You will be prompted whether you want to uninstall.

After that, Vlingo is gone, and the double-press home button will not launch anything.

Hi Marr, Thank you so much for your post! I registered just to say thanks!! Stoked that there was such an easy way to get rid of voice talk!! Started having issues with voice talk, became an issue for charging, installed golauncher and in 5 mins, prob was solved! Genius!!! You are a star :D

There is an even easier way to get rid of BUILT-IN apps in I.C.S.:
Go to Application Manager.
Long-Click on the app.
DISABLE the app.
Use this with S-Voice or any other built-in app and you can then install a replacement.
If you need to use the app later, it will be at the bottom of the Application Manager list and can just be ENABLED!!
Found this in another forum -- sorry cannot find it again!!

ok figured it out! you cant uninstal voice command in the settings menu, however there is a way, if you use go launcher you can unistall voice command by going into the app draw and long pressing on the voice command app, then hit the red cross once it pops up, you will then be taken to the unistal page, job done! no more vlingo!
This doesn't work there is no x by it when I long press it. Help!

Simple...

Go to setting ==> applications
Go to the "all" tab.
scroll almost all the way down till you get to voice control.
long click.
look for the "disable button"
press it
and you are set.

I registered only so I could say Thank you. I like a few users here were ready to throw out my Samsung and I now have found peace on earth since uninstalling that dam voice prompt app ! how annoying it was, was nearly the death of me ! You are an absolute legend !!!!!!

I hate that stupid voice, I hate it when I'm at work and this damn voice starts "What would you like to do?" and everybody looks at me...I hate it I hate it I hate it!!!!!!!!

to disable vlingo welcome message (WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO!)
open VOICE TALK
menu->settings->voice talk settings->deselect speak prompts
tested on gingerbread

registered just to make this post. what an annoying issue this is

Superb....struggled with that daft app since I had this phone. Now at work when everyone hears "WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO?" numerous times during the day, they won`t hear me instinctively mutter "STFU BIATCH" as I desperately try and shut her up, which will probably now save me from losing my job. Thanks again!

Even with GO launcher i could not get a red X on the app to unistall it. I used this method to deactivate it and it worked.

The only problem now is that a Google voice program pops up when i double tap the homebutton. And guess what, it is even more annoying then the "WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO?" phrase. Maybe it works well in english, but she is speaking my native language and sounds like a angry ******ed middled aged woman. Translated she is like: "SPEAK!" and then 2 seconds later "I DONT UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE SAYING".:smokingsomb:
I dont know the apps name, so I cant delete or deactivate it... :(

Why is it so difficult to remove the double tap function? Anyone know how to get rid of the google voice program?

That's right. And it's so stupidly easy you'll be kicking yourself. I still am.

> Firstly, you'll need to install Go Launcher. Search on the Play Store for it.

> Then, when you've installed it, go into the app drawer and press and hold the 'Voice Command' icon (the blue one).

> It will shake with a red cross next to it, click to uninstall and follow the prompts.

> That's it. Gone. You can uninstall Go Launcher at this point if you want.

There doesn't seem to be a way to install it again, unless a factory reset brings it back (but that's no loss, i've been close to chucking my phone out of the window because of that thing keep popping up)

Also, this does only seems to work with ICS. My wife has a newer GT-I9100G S2 which is still on gingerbread (O2 UK) and this trick doesn't work.

How come everyone else has said THANKS, THIS WORKS...yet I do not get a red X on the Voice Command App, or any of the pre installed Samsung apps), just the apps I've added to the phone...thus this method doesn't get rid of the the stupid f'ing goddamn bollocksing touble tap 'what would you like to do' thingy!

Sorry, this stupid thing is driving me bonkers!

If you are still struggling to disable Vlingo/Voicetalk in Android (including Jellybean on the Galaxy S2), I have finally found a way to do it without rooting your phone.

In Android, go to

Settings
Apps (or Applcation Manager)
Then scroll across to ALL (i.e. show ALL Apps)
Scroll down and find "Voice Command"
Open it and press "DISABLE"
Close Settings.

You're done! Now you can use whatever voice recognition software you want (until Samsung shutdown this loophole in their next update?)

Many thanks to someone from another forum for posting this solution, and Nul Points to Samsung for ever including this crapware without a delete option.

Hi folks. Registered specially to pass this on, since the %&$*@-ing Tap and Talk thing has been driving me nuts too.

Hi all,
I've tried the solution below (I don't get an option to disable), I've tried using "Go Launcher", no red x appears. Anyone have another idea? I really hate this program and want it off. Thanks.

Force Stopping and clearing data seems to work up till now. Thereafter I trashed the app itself from within application folder. Hoping that it will not come back again. I also tried the stupid Go-Launcher and it was not just a waste of time, but like others said...caused a lot of problems with wallpaper and gadgets added and so on. Seems like nothing but adware to me without helping to resolve the problem, aka ability to uninstall the Voice Command.

That was exactly my experience.

Thanks very much for the solution those above who pointed it out.

What a pity Sam$ung can't see this is beyond me.

I also had that experience but then took the easier still route above, which worked fine.
thanks for your contribution reassuring me I'm not alone!
