Root Finally Rooted, still cannot move to SD??

JDML

Newbie
It took forever but i'm rooted, Supersu installed, Busybox installed, Root Checker verified. I still cannot move apps to sd, app2sd program still says external sd is emulated??? Please help, did all this for nothing, it seems!!

Doing all that doesn't automatically enable moving to SD. There are specific steps needed to enable move to SD, and more than 1 way to go about it.

The method I chose was to create a second partition on my SD card and use Link2SD to move apps of my choosing. That is probably the least invasive method since you aren't changing the stock ROM in any way, and it doesn't even need busybox, just root and supersu.

There are at least a few other methods to choose from.

I just used ES File and cut and paste to my sd card without rooting. If you''re worried about your phone not locating it try copy instead until you know.

I found ur post while searching on "partition" because I am looking for info on just HOW to create a second partition...can u help?

If you're looking on how to create a second partition on your SD card, there are just too many methods! The way I formatted my SD card was to use a microSD adapter and plug it into my PC then use a general partition manager to set up ext4 and FAT32. It's not a terribly difficult issue. You can search for this beyond AndroidForums.

I agree with mario0318, thats how I partition my external sd cards for apps to sd as well. I would also add... that the first and secondary partition needs to be set as primary and Not very many Windows partition managers support EXT4 partition.... Mini Tool Partition Wizard does though.
If you're using artas's recovery from the L9 recovery installer, (which Im sure you are) his CWM version currently only supports the SD-EXT if it's partitioned as EXT3. For like nandroid backups.
