Finally!!!

Just go into the store and tell them that it needs to be activated on ur line. I have done it over a dozen times. All my family's phones are in my name, so i take their upgrades.

I did the same thing and got charged full retail 3 months later. They said I never accepted the terms and conditions of the contract renewal which it never asked me to do upon activation. Go figure...

It was a big mess but I got it straightened out.

How did you straighten it out?
This is what my dad is worried will happen, and I don't want it to happen either, but would love to not let him use it at all ;)

I called customer service and explained the situation. For whatever reason my contract never renewed when I activated the phone.

The key is to accept the terms and conditions of the new contract. Once that is done your free to activate it on whatever line you want.

You can activate it then activate it on yours :) they dont usually care, as long as it gets activated at least once on the account its from.

This. Long story, but I had to purchase my husband's X on our third line. When I got it, I had to call and they activated it to that line, then deactivated and put it on my husband's line. Five minutes tops.

Congrats!

Ok, so once I activate it, i can then immediately deactivate and put it on my line. Sounds good. Maybe I'll be lucky and it'll ship early. Never know

I read that, thanks.
I did hear that people were resetting and it was working recently though?

I did a reset( before I read that of course) and didn't have an issue. Of course I did the radio update immediately after, maybe that helped.

but a must for every touch only phone is call confirm

Your dad might like it and keep it! :p lol

This is why I already convinced him to do this:

But he already promised he would give it to me no matter what. I have the best dad IMO, and he is very easy to persuade, and always convinces my mom. Go straight to him for everything lol

Yeah it probably isn't a full 32 gigs but i have some software to test it and if not, I'll complain and get my $35 back. But if it is 32, then damn ill be happy.

I bet your dad will enjoy it even if it isnt 32 GB.

Once your dad tries it out, the switch to your line will be futile!

yeah I am on a family plan, and i am not eligible, but my dad is. So do i NEED it active on his line for a week do you think or can I just activate, go back later that night, and then put it on my line?

What has been the case when I've done alternate line upgrades is it has to be activated on the line that it's purchased for, then you can swap ESN's. Customer service can do it over the phone, or I choose to do it in store in case of difficulties. But it can be done immediately with no wait time between the changes.

Do you think there is any possibility of the phone shipping early?
I mean, online says ships by the 6th, so maybe I can be lucky?
*Just checked, now says ships by 10th, but still never know*

HAHA!!!! great news. So my dad has been having problems with his storm (ewwww). So I brought it to my local store, they fixed it, and then 9 new messages came throught (his phone wasn't accessing data so he missed messages and emails) and one was a shipment notification for my phone!. Its in newark as we speak and scheduled to be here tuesday!
Im so happy.

My husband just ordered one and it shipped the same day even though it said it would ship about a week later. In think he had it two days after he ordered it. Now we each have one. I got mine on launch day and have learned a lot from these forums but don't know enough to contribute much!

My last question is: since I don't have a data plan currently, can I still activate the phone on my line over the phone or do I need to go into the stor?
Thanks

You can do it over the phone or online. The system will have you add the $29.99 data plan upon activation.
