Help Fingerprint Scanner

Quick question about the fingerprint scanner, can you set it up so that it recognizes more than one unique fingerprint? For instance, I plan to use this method of unlocking my phone, however, I would also like to allow my girlfriend to use my phone so is there some way to add both of ours, a sort of whitelist, that will allow us both fingerprint access?

I have no idea...but when setting the fingerprints up you have to use both your right finger and left finger. So what if when setting them up you use your right finger and she does her left finger? I have no idea if this will work, just a thought.

You can also unlock with the 4 digit pin & fingerprint without disabling the other. I'm curious about the different print for left & right though.

edit: Just set it up to work with my left thumb and my right ring finger. So you'll probably be able to set it up to work with your index and her index.

Yes...I can confirm that my wife's right index finger, and my right index finger both work to unlock the phone after configuring the lock setup. The left/right and thumb/index/middle finger assignment means nothing - the scanner simply reads whatever is input to the device and stores that print. So you could scan a silicone fingerprint if you wanted, and it would unlock the device. James Bond would have no problem stealing and using your phone!
:D
And just for those who don't know, the reason the Atrix asks for two fingerprints is due to the fact that one of the fingerprints can be easily damaged with dirt, mild corrosives, plumping due to water or weight gain, and simple wear & tear on the print ridges. Since you swipe two fingerprints, you're usually safe if one fingerprint is slightly damaged.

And if both are damaged, then just use the PIN code you entered when you setup the phone. You DID enter a numeric or pattern code too in the event you can't swipe, right?
;)

yup i use my right index, and my gf uses her left index.. everything is good
Sure it's all good...until an MI6 agent takes your fingerprint and scoots away. Then your phone is uber vulnerable!!

I don't recall entering a pin when I first got my Atrix.

How do you set it up later after the fact?

TIA

The one downside I've found with this phone so far is it's size. It's too small for me to store my valuables in with all of this security!!!!! :D :D :D

Just go into the Settings, Security and setup the lock screen. Choose pin and you're done. The Atrix will remember the fingerprints until you clear them manually or factory reset the phone, and the fingerprint option is always there when you unlock, or enter the pin if the scan doesn't work due to changes to your prints (like dirt, burned or worn print).

That's good to know :) Will keep that in mind if I want to allow anyone to use my phone. Maybe I'll teach my 3 yr old niece. She just does the pattern unlock to access my (lost) Nexus One. I don't think she'll be happy trying to enter a PIN code XD.
