Firefox Mobile

There is already a pre-alpha release of Firefox for android called Fennec I believe is the name of it.. So my assumption is that it's coming, it's just a matter of time..

So i came across This article.. And it is just saying firefox mobile has been approved by apple. Is firefox not coming to android?...

This is NOT the same thing as the firefox browser. Apple does not allow competing apps to the ones on iPhone (this really pisses me off because if it wasn't for firefox, everyone would be using IE and there would be no iPhone OR android)
But the real firefox mobile is coming to android.

Also note that it says 'Firefox Home'
This is getting spread around the boards and people seem to be ignoring the 'home' part of it.
They see 'Firefox' and run with it.

There is no way that Apple would allow Firefox on an iPhone - it's a competing browser.
They let Opera on but I don't see how it competes, period... sorry Opera lovers...

number 1.. does anyone actually use opera? i use chrome and love it.
number 2.. sorry i didnt pay attention, mainly because it said iphone so i didnt care lol.

there are 2 kinds of opera. Opera mini uses servers to compress unencypted web sites and gives it back to you. That is available on ios and everything else out there.
Opera mobile actually renders the site natively on the phone with its own rendering engine. That means it can be used for interactive web apps and secure sites. But this app is not available on iphone.

iphone and Android use WebKit not firefox's engine. Webkit came from Khtml. The three biggest standards are Firefox's , Microsoft's and webkit.

i am still waiting for a chrome mobile browser.... maybe they are waiting for more fully implemented flash for smoother coding?

And why can't we have Firefox Home for android, sync my bookmarks and such. Of course the thousands of bookmarks I have ono my laptop would probably choke the phone like my 15+ years of calendar data does :)

Chrome uses webkit, which is what you have on your phone.
So you sort-of have chrome now.
It would be really ridiculous to have chrome running webkit on Android and the Browser in Android running webkit.

yes but what firefox did was to get developers to come up with websites that would work with all browsers instead of just IE. Webkit (or opera's presto engine) would be useless if IE was the only option.
