*DONT DO THIS ANYMORE, THERE IS A WAY TO FLASH WITHOUT MESSING UP THE PHONE*

This thread is ONLY intended for people to look at and provide a better way to do flash firmware if they know of one. When I flashed using this method the phones NV Ram was completely wiped out and I was unable to place a call or even attempt to activate it.

Step 1-Download the necessary files and drivers- Download Classified Shit.zip from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

Step 2-Unzip the file, then go into the folder labeled "LGNPST" and read the installation instructions. *Install them in that exact order!*

Step 3-Go to the installations directory(Default-C:\LG Electronics) and make a new folder called "Models"

Step 4-Copy the .dll file in the folder you downloaded, and copy it to the Models folder that you just made.

Step 5-Once copied, right click on the .dll file and click Register. If it is not there or it does not work, then open up a new window, go to C:\Windows\system32\ and scroll down until you see the file called regsvr32. Drag the .dll file straight onto it. Don't cut or copy and paste it, just drag it onto it and make sure that there is still a copy of the .dll file in the Models folder after you drag and drop it.

Step 6-Once you do all of this correctly, then reboot your computer. Once you start it up again, run the application called LGNPST. If you do not see it on your desktop or start menu, go to C:\LG Electronics\LGNPST and click on the one called LGNPST. Leave the one called LGNPST_CE alone. It's weird.

Step 7-Turn off your Optimus Elite and take out the battery(leave it out for now). Then while it is off and not plugged into anything, hold down BOTH of the volume buttons and the POWER buttons. While holding these buttons down, plug in the USB cable and wait until the phone says Downloading do not disconnect cable or something like that. You can now release the buttons. Don't put the battery in just yet.

Step 8-Your Optimus Elite should show up in the LGNPST window. At the top, select tool, then check the option that says "Only show old GUI".

Step 9-You should see near the bottom of LGNPST two things that say DLL file and BIN file. Across from DLL file, click the icon that looks like an older folder and when the new window pop up select the option that says "VM696". Across from the BIN file you should see the same icon. Click on that. At the bottom of the window that pops up, there will be somthing called "File type" and it will have "*.bin" inside of it. Delete the ".bin", leaving only the "*". Then press enter(the window will not close, it will just flash blue for a second).

Step 10-In the same window, navigate to the location of the downloaded file(Classified Shit) and select the file called "VM696ZV4_01.S4_01.P61007.tot". When it is selected, hit open and it should close the window and take you back to LGNPST.

Step 11-Click start at the bottom of LGNPST and wait.

Step 12-Once completed, the phone will be in a boot loop. Unplug the phone from the computer, then put the battery back into the phone, and start 'er up.

Okay that's how to flash the LG Optimus Elite. Once again, this is not a safe flashing method, this is purely a thread that is to be seen, and then directed the proper way to flash it without wiping the NVRam.

Thanks to jcase and ShabbyPenguin for the tools and drivers.

I'm wondering what happens if you try to back up the phone with qpst as well as photo backup the dfs settings to get this to work.
What I do is open up dfs then go from tab to tab and read everything take a screen shot (it's like doing a backup but more manual) then reenter everything and write it. How does that work with this method?

will this root my optimus elite

No, this will not root. The firmware provided is a stock firmware, and it isn't even fully developed yet. This post is purely to attract the attention of somebody who could improve upon the situation.

You should make the top RED and LARGE so they read it first
