Hello.

It seems that my Samsung galaxy note 2 should do a firmware update of some kind and I changed battery during it(just thought the battery was dead and was going to but in a replacement). And after that my phone looks really really funny on the screen. Looks just messed up. Been trying to connect the phone to kies and do some kind of emergancy firmware reset. But kies cannot locate my phone. So does anyone know if I can do some kind of reset myself and "reboot" the phone in some way so I can start it up and try to fix the firmware afterwards (if it is needed to fix the firmware). Don't care if all apps will be lost, have my photos on the external micro sd card.

You'd more than likely have to manually install the update but not via Kies.
Without knowing who your provider is, there's no way for any of us ti help you further.

Normally a phone takes a long time to fully power back on after an update. Either start off with a fully charged battery or plug it into the charger if you think the battery is too low--never take the battery out of your phone while it's in the middle of an update!

You may try to do a Hard Reset. All your apps will have to be installed again and you will lose any data you have on the phone, but it may bring it back to life. Turn the phone off, not stand by or sleep, but press the power button and shut down the phone. I would suggest at this point to remove the battery for about 5 minutes also before proceeding. Press and hold the Volume Up and Home buttons, while holding these buttons press and hold the power button. Continue to hold all three buttons until you get something on the screen. At this point you may release the power button, but continue to hold the others. When the Recover Menu comes up, you can release all the buttons. Use the volume control buttons to navigate the menu and highlight the Factory Reset option (not sure what is actually called on the Note 2). After it is highlighted, press the power button to select. Use the volume buttons to navigate to yes and then use the power button to select. Make sure you have a charged battery or the unit is plugged in before you begin this process and be aware that the process will take a while to finish. When it is done, you will have to re-enter your Google information and set the device back up to your liking. It will guide you through the set up process.

Good Luck.

Hello. I have Telia in Sweden. I was talking to samsung Sweden and explaining the problem. It didn't even reply to the emergancy commands. "power button, home button and volume up or down. So it seems that the motherboard and graphic card committed harakiri or something. It wasn't anything I could have done myself. So I sent it in and the repair shop and they will see if it is too expensive to repair it or give me a new one. I hope it will be fixed ASAP,coz I miss my phone. :)
