Help Firmware Update Trouble

Hi, I looked and haven't found any thread of a similar problem, so I am sorry if this is a repeat.

I never updated my firmware past 1.5 because I was afraid of losing my contacts and apps (as some of my friends with Hero phones did), but I'd like to update now because the newer Facebook interface and other options are appealing and I have all of my contacts backed up.

However, when I attempt to update the firmware, my phone checks and says that there are no updates available. I am using the Firmware version 1.5 so I know there is an update. Is the update not available now because it has been so long? That wouldn't make much sense.

Firmware should be 2.1 so I assume you are still running Android 1.5

As long as your contacts are Google contacts you won't lose any, if they are not well your just being silly. Let google sync them and you will never lose them.

To update to 2.1, from 1.5, you will need to either go the Sprint website, and search for "update your phone", or the HTC website, or take it to a Sprint store, where they will do it for you free.

If your contacts are "google" contacts, yuo will not loose them. Apps...one way is to make a paper list, and re-download them...If you root your phone, you can use Titanium backup from the market to backup your apps. See the All Things Root Sub-forum for more info and help on rooting.
