FIRMWARE UPDATE! wtf does it doooo?

crap, nothing with any of the known issues?

gps: 6.9.13
wifi: 6.1.1.17
bt: 9.23
build: IML74K.US_epad-9.4.2.11-20120117

Someones old numbers (obviously some updates!)
gps: 6.8.13
wifi: 6.1.1.17

I got the same thing. Kind of funny that the wifi version 6.1.1.17 looks like something created on the 17th? Matches the end of the build #. Maybe it has something to do with wifi stability?

what does your wifi say before updating? or have you already?

and you can see the date in the build trail ... 2012 01 17

but yes im curious if wifi build is different?

I just ran GPS TEST and i SEE 8 sats, and 6 are in use ... wifi is turned off

wtf?
 
GPS TEST is absolutely seeing more

but Navigation app is still "searching for location" and wont work.

oh well :(

I have not received any OTA notices today. When did you get the update because my GPS and build are your old version?

did you go into settings and force the check for update?
 
Not yet, kind of scared to. The only "issue" I've had since I bought my Prime is GPS. Don't want to push my luck. lol
 
Well what do you know. Something has changed with the GPS. I just went outside and with the wifi off I am getting 16 sats with 11 locked on? It never did that before?

GPS test did show sattelites quicker, but couldn't stay locked.. sitting in my living room.

Didn't test outside before or after.

As mentioned, appears GPS and build number have changed.
 
Yep, updated GPS but I still have never locked on. I didn't check it outside though........too cold. Tomorrow.
 
ran gps test before i ran the update and bounced between 1 and 2 satellites. ran the update and i going back and forth between 4 and 7 satellites.

one thing i noticed with gps test. if i put the tablet down on the couch next to me, it picks up more satellites, but as soon as i pick it up it starts dropping satellites.

also, after i downloaded and installed, when the transformer rebooted, it then went and "updated apps". did anyone else's do that?

Ya did that to my apps as well. No idea what that was all about.

I seem to be getting a better wifi signal for some reason after the update. Or maybe I just had my prime in a slightly better spot resting on my bed lol


Edit: sadly, its the same now... wifi analyzer said I was at -50 dBm and I was at full bars for a second, probably just a fluke >.<
 
i have wifi connection......typing this on the prime now. but when updating firmware it searches and searches and then says no internet connection......yet i can surf to here. geeez.
 
I no longer have the black bars when I open the recent apps and my browsers are working more smoothly. I also see the updated GPS software but I've yet to test it.
 
Ok.. I did the firmware update yesterday, and am at 9.4.2.11 per my screenshot.

Asus website shows 9.4.2.7 ... isnt that a higher number....? Always thought version numbers used standard math... as such .7 would be higher than .11.

Either way, I assume .11 is latest. Sorry for the post.. initially thought Asus got things jacked up.

Shrug.
