is this...? is it really? could it be???? you mean the great day has arrived?!!

after 5 minutes of installation, with the progress bar barely moving, finally it finished, rebooted, watched the poxy samsung logo pulsing for another 5 mins and..

and...
and guess what?

Bugger! But why issue such a big firmware update just a few weeks before the update to ICS?

Anyone know what this update gives us?

Actually weeks before the ICS update is scheduled to be released :) although some people were getting this update more than a month ago (I just got it a week ago).

It is a stability fix (cleans up some lagging) and also adds the ability to switch your stock keyboard to one handed mode in portrait.

Regards,
Eric Ritchie.

with the lag previously experienced it is - all they are doing is rolling out a fw update that started a while ago in other countries.

...and who knows when we will really receive ICS?!

Well.... that was exciting :D Even though my phone was set to auto retrieve, it didn't....Anyway, it's done now :D

Nope. Waste of bandwidth.

Was hoping it would fix the bug with QR code generator for contacts, but no. Still get my vcard with semicolons littered throughout my address!

ive literally just rooted my phone and then come across this firmware update! does the FW update kill the lag or should i keep phone rooted?

Once 'One hand operation' has been checked under 'Language and keyboard' in Settings, the biased keypad is always available in the phone and calculator, etc, but only on the Samsung standard generic keyboard.

Note that in biased mode, the Samsung keyboard has small keys.

Personally, for editing, I prefer the Thumb Keyboard, as it includes cursor keys, al la WM, which makes it easier to move around without the word correction hijacking the selection. It also includes a slit keyboard and the height and incursion %s can be set independently for portrait and landscape.

XXLA4 has made the phone tad bit smoother but I have the following issue after the firmware update:

I am using Go Launcher on Galaxy Note and it appears to redraw/reload all widgets and icons on the home screen if I rotate the screen i.e while going from Landscape to Potrait Mode and vice versa , all widgets/icons reload.

While rotating applications , this does not happen.

Anybody having this issue with Go Launcher?

After the firmware update I can no longer enter a space when typing.

If I switch off the XT9 predictive text the space then works.

Has anybody else had this.

I have learned awhile back that I don't need to install every update that comes along. This is why.
