Help Firmware update.

Lurker
I have just tried to do a firmware update on my Samsung Galaxy S4 using Kies 3.
Everything seems to go ok until the update is being downloaded to the phone then i get a error " Your phone does not recognise your PC. Please disconnect the USB lead, take the phone's battery out, then put it back in, turn the phone on and then try again.
I have tried this but i still get the same error even when i try using different USB connecters on my PC.
Any help with this will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have tried that but i get a message saying my device is not supported by Kies !!

I personally never have used Kies, I only have it on the PC for the drivers needed to use Odin.

If you want to use Odin give me a shout. If you use it just to flash the latest firmware for your device it will not cause any problems what so ever. (It is what Samsung use themselves). First things first you need to download your new firmware from SamMobile. SamMobile hosts all the different firmwares for Samsung devices they come as a .Zip folder. Go there and register using any old email address.

SamMobile | Everything for your Samsung Mobile

Then search for your firmware there. If your not sure how type *#1234# into your phones dialler to get a screen like this (the numbers and codes are scribbled out on my screen shot as to not cause confusion)

Type here or post a screen shot of exactly what it says, and I'll post a link for your firmware download from SamMobile. It usually takes about an hour to download save it to your desktop on your PC.

Then we'll go from there. Be assured this is a perfectly legal and legitimate way of updating and provided you follow instructions to the letter will work perfectly, it is exactly what Samsung would do if you went to them and asked them to flash the latest update.
