First CES info on Verizon new androids.

Seriously? I don't see how... I've only owned a Moto Rzr, and the Droid, but both are WAAAAAAAYYYYYY better phones than any HTC phone that I've ever had (Touch Pro, Imagio) in terms of quality, and call quality as well. I'm talking light years ahead of where HTC is...

I haven't had a Moto phone since a StarTac until I owned the Droid for a while. The build quality of the Droid seemed good at the time but with all of the reports of loose sliders, etc it doesn't instill confidence especially with the history that some of my friends had with their RAZRs and KRZRs and RCKRs. I hope Moto turns it around. However even though the Eris isn't all metal like the Droid, it has a very nice feel and isn't overly bulky and heavy like the Droid IMO.

That's going to start a serous fight. lol :o

the Eris call quality is excellent and i find it better than the Droid. not better than my wife's moto dumphone, but better than the Droid. i also find the build quality of the Eris to be excellent. i actually returned the Droid partially because i noticed the bezel around the screen on the two i had plus the many floor models i saw had some minor dings and seemed to chip and dent easily. also, there are a number that seem to have dust under the screen, including the second one i owned. of course, it seems it depends on which model and not so much the brand. there are some really crappy motos and some really solid ones. same for HTC i would imagine. though HTC doesn't have a zillion models and the history moto has.

No offense, but if you at any point find a phone heavy, try lifting some weight... a 2lb dumbbell should be efficient.. just don't strain yourself.

There you go spouting off again. FYI I own multiple sets of weights that I use regularly. Only up to 20 lbs though. Don't want to be bulky just toned. I am just a weak girly girly after all. But seriously the Droid is a brick and is uncomfortable to hold for an extended call IMO.

I guess we can't all be so studly as Ataranine. Let's all around a bunch of extraneous weight made up of 3rd rate devices that add little to any real function.

xD Taking things on the internet seriously. Fail.
A bowling ball is heavy, a phone is not..not even the Motorola.

The whole Fail thing. So over. Back to discussion: It may not be "heavy" but I will stand by my statement that TO ME, it's uncomfortable to use on a long call. It's bulky and not as comfortable to hold for a long period of time as my Eris.

lets not get into the eris vs droid thing again !

we all know the droid is far superior :x

uh oh...

LOL. Yea, superiorly bulky and awkward to use with a weird physical keyboard. Seriously I hope if you end up with one you like it. It just didn't do it for me (although I do miss it's screen).

I gave it another chance in the store.. I'd take it. I like the keyboard. Just don't even try to type with your thumb.
There's still that problem of not being able to lift it though... shucks.

im a small girl by any means and after playing with it, i like it a lot, way more than the eris. so much more you can do with it and its not running on that old hardware. the eris was fun for a while but then i noticed why i was at the mall and people were giving them out for free ;\ good phone, but the droid is .. game changing? the keyboard is there as an option.. i only used it once to write a longer email. the virtual keyboard did me just fine, and that new swype (sp?) is supposed to be really cool considering u dont even have to poke the screen.

in 5-6 days i'll know for sure what i want. but its not the eris ;\

:P Naahh just gettin on how people use its weight as some sort of factor in not getting it. :D
It's a nice phone and if I had the damn 100 dollar difference I have to pay, I'd give it a shot til March.

ohh.. well, i wish i had one :( right now im using my old flip LG, really sucks. but in just a few days i'll know for sure what i want. some websites are hyping something high-end, some websites are hyping something more 'mid-range' compared to the droid. if the droid can hold on till after the google showing, im going to verizon the next day. i really hope its not the opus one thing, i think its so ugly.

happy new years everyone! lets hope its a good one for android and us

I know a lot of people say if you dont like the physical keyboard then dont use it. But in my opinion it's adding bulk, etc for a feature that I wont use. Its too bad Swype wasnt out when I had my Droid but oh well. I like the Eris well enough for now and hopefully you'll like the Droid :)

Looks like we might know the two motorola's coming out, and they are nothing to get excited about. they are labeled as -- "Neither would be a high-end phone. They are aimed at the mid-range, below Motorola's hit Droid." -- im looking for high-end or i would have kept the eris.
"The other rumored phone is the Motorola Opus One, a phone that looks similar to the HTC Eris". - the eris would be the better choice considering its camera 5megapixel and more power (i think?).

i didn't believe the first read, but then another site is covering the same phones. here's the sources: (second being more recent)Motorola to Debut Two Android Phones at CES? - www.enterprisemobiletoday.com

@kraze0g, The phone in the last link mentioned in your post is supposedly a fake per BGR

For a split second, I was actually considering picking up the Nexus One unsubsidized and getting the Verizon MiFi, using the thing via WiFi on the fly. I forgot the damn Verizon data plan has a 5GB limit on the MiFi. Is there an Android app that does VoIP?

Why can't it be a factor- maybe not the only one but at least one of the factors? At least its not the color of it :D

Which you don't have to be a bodybuilder to pick up...

Never ever said you did. But you will not sway me that it is one of many factors in the evaluation of a phone. The Droid was uncomfortable to use for a long call, the Eris is not. And I am certain at least a couple of people would agree with me even though you don't.
