Root First Custom ROM

I am excited, I have been rooted for months, but have been just reading and collecting knowledge, and tonight I finally decided to take the plunge and install and custom ROM. I am going with Skyraider 3.3.3, I have booted up and am in set up, all seems well. Hopefully this will work perfectly, but just got the update notification. Time to do some more research.

ok, where is the link to get rid of the update with anything other than root explorer.

Also, if I make a nandroid backup of everthing I just setup, If i do another rom and restore this backup, it will be like I never did anything, right?
