So I finally bit the bullet and bought an HTC Desire... What are my first impressions.
I got my first mobile phone in 1992 and it was a Nokia. Since then I have had 14 phones I can remember and they were ALL Nokias. Moving away from Nokia has been a bit traumatic but I finally did it 3 days ago when I got the Desire.
Pros:
Operating system is a revelation. I absolutely love it. It's quick, intuitive, makes sense and a pleasure to use. I don't think I've explored more than a 10th of it's capabilities, but so far I can't fault it.
The phone itself is a solid piece of kit. Feels good in the hand and well built. Size is about perfect and the screen is vivid and clear indoors.
Internet loading is very quick as is e mail retrieval.
Touch screen is very receptive.
Availability of APPS is mind blowing.
Cons:
External speakers are poor. Very tinny and not very loud.
NO TV out... Can't believe this isn't standard in today's Smartphones.
Screen smears very easily.
Camera is average indoors, somewhat better outdoors.
Screen is pretty useless outdoors in normal daylight.
Battery is very poor.
That's about it for now. I'll post again when I've used the phone for a month and compare my thoughts then to now.
