First-time Android

Hi, just got my first Android phone - a HTC Desire. I'm very happy with it - so many nice touches compared to my old non-smart-phone (an LG Viewty). Anyway, been reading posts here for quite some time - great forum :)
 
Playing with the desire has certainly been an adventure so far. My wife is already complaining about how much time I'm spending staring at my phone. And it's only been a week!

I'm sure the excitement will fade a bit - but right now there are so many things to try out and play with. I've hardly installed anything from the market so far.

My only niggle is I'm on an Orange branded phone - and they add a lot of bloat-ware which I can't delete, and applications which run that I don't want. I'll probably try to root it/debrand it/install custom roms.. I'm still not entirely sure of the pros and cons. I have heard that Orange roms aren't available, so I guess there would be no going back.
