Help First time charge

Hello. Sorry for the possible overreaction here but im charging my new sgs2 for the first time and i'm just getting a flahsing empty battery symbol over and over again
I had a green battery symbol at first so i pressed the button to switch it on and now all i get is this.
Can anyone tell me if this is normal please.

that shoudl just come for the first few seconds when charging, when ur battery is completely drained. do u still see it? is ur charger connected properly?

try connecting it to USB cable instead to see if its a problem with the phone or the charger
