Root First time ICS user.

Let me start this first by saying this phone is the tits! Awesome battery life, 4.0 OS very fast and snappy!
i have used or pretty much have boughten almost all of the android from metro pcs all of which are on GB.

Any tips for a new ICS user?
any tips on getting even better battery life?
and any good launchers ?

Thank you for your time!

Root it and underclock it to save battery. (I like it at 1100mhz and I don't lose any performance)
I heard people using Apex, Holo and Nova launchers. I personally prefer Zeam

let's compare for fun.

mines stock un rooted stock launcher stock 1.5ghz max cpu, i get pretty good usage out of it including the screen being on for 2:45-3 hours and wifi turned on for maybe 1-2hrs out of the day. the rest of major usage goes to chrome and dead trigger some google earth.. (besides cell standby/android OS(android os being num 1 battery consumption usually) etc) phone and messaging might slide in there as well near the bottom/middle, now i'll get atleast 1d x hours on a full charge, this is with out every turning off 4g, or mobile data or turning on airplane mode.

now what do you get usually with your phone clocked 400mhz less? and with out having mobile data turned off/airplane mode turned on all day

p.s unless you decide to root then i'd stick with the stock launcher, if you dont root there's no way to disable the stock launcher in order to just have 1 main 3rd party launcher running like nova prime (my choice if rooted) ---- EDIT : i lied apparently if you have another launcher set as default, apon reboot the stock launcher wont start up by it self, and fyi's nova launcher prime is only 25c right now! only for like another couple hours i think

another tip for battery life, when you go to widgets you can put up settings short cuts, i usually keep data usage shortcut, because you can set it to a limit, and you can disable all background data PER app of your choice, or all apps if you select them all, not to mention just turn off mobile data completly right there instead of via a 3rd party app like power toggles, you can also put a battery usage short cut up as well, it's pretty much the same as all other android versions tho.

I did not do any tests, but I have 2 phones with this set up and I can see my battry life improvements

i'm not asking you to test anything, i'm simply asking you to post the up time that shows in battery statistics when the phone is near dead.

i'm willing to go as far as to say the 400mhz isn't whats making the difference in your improvements, i mean it could if your cpu is running at 100% all the time constantly, but that's not what happens. so i'm thinking the 400mhz less is giving you about a total of ten-20 minutes extra if anything.

i'm not at all trying to start an argument, just fun getting to the primal statistics of battery life vs cpu power.

the reason why i dont think 400mhz isn't going to do anything is because you can take an old cpu like a celeron clocked at 1.7, then you can take a new cpu like an 2.21 i7 with 8x the amount of cores logical+physical and turbo, and still get roughly the exact same up time when based on cpu alone.

ok sure, but i have poor signal time to time, so i should really do 1 day on full power and then next day underclocked. I cant reallh afford to have an airplane mode turned on all the time. I know if its on battery life increases dramatically.

With my battery, on average i get about 10- 12 1/2 hours of play time, i use my phone often. Facebook instagram, shadow gun texting and calling of course.
This phone was rooted, as i bought it from someone who did before i bought the phone for a cool 100 $ :)
i bought Nova Prime, i got a little confused on its layout so i just took it out until i get mess around with it.

Do you mean you battery die within 12 hours or you continuously have your screen on for 10-12 hours. The 2nd one sounds too unrealistic

right now im at 1d 1hr 21m 06s. with 17% left

screens been on for 2hr 20 minutes, at 55-100% brightness depending if im outside or not. lots of chrome and wifi, lots of hd camera also used skeye planetarium alot last night., dead trigger and infinit black mmo this morning since 6 am so far

well i checked my battery stats and I got 3h 40m of screen time at 4% and 1h of calls. I did not use wifi at all. Used around 40 mb of data and sent over 50 sms. Also most of my battery was taken by mediaserver for some reason.
