Help Fix: Force close when attempting to set ringtones

G'Day all,

This one annoyed me for a while until I stumbled across a solution that worked for me. So I figured I'd post this in case anyone else gets the same issue.

My problem was that I would get a Force Close of com.htc.sdm whenever I tried to set the ringtone... e.g. by pressing menu then selecting Ringtones. I think this issue was caused by using a soundboard application to set a ringtone, and then uninstalling that app. I was stuck on a crappy default ringtone after that.

The solution I found was to touch the personalise button and then select Sound set. Select HTC Default 2010 and then touch Apply. After that I could edit my ringtones normally.

Hope this helps someone!

Hey!

I keep getting the force close when trying to create a new sound set.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

I've got a HTC Desire Z, only a few days old.

RedAndroid, i got the same message about force close when trying to do *anything* with a soundset/ringtone; followed DoughNuts tip above and the problem is now fixed. Try reverting back to the default soundset as suggested and start over again...

Ta. By the way, I too have a new Desire Z and am learning as I go.
