Edit: the lock only took 5 seconds, and I had 8 satellites .. pretty smooth..

Sorry for the double post.. This is a second test.. Mobile data and Wifi OFF. Locked in 3 seconds. I'm standing behind my house, facing the exact direction of the compass, smoking a cigarette.. Amazing. Anyone who is on here a lot knows no GPS was the only reason I uninstalled BobZ .. I'm sold.

I was hoping for you this would work man.. I knew from our previous conversations it was important to you....

Duuuuuuuuuude... So important :)

Had to restore it to stock.. For some reason, no matter what I did, battery wouldn't charge. Tried everything til I was at 27% and then restored before I couldn't. Going to try a clean reset, and reinstall, after my battery is good and charged

Did you get it fixed???

I'm a little concerned about the fact that my phone is getting very hot.. and the battery is dying quickly... not sure why... gonna do some investigating from work today

Mine has too but before this..

Alright, so I installed a battery monitor, to keep an eye on the battery temp..

Last night, it reached a max temp of 123.5 F (YIKES) - very hot
Right before laying down for sleepy time, I held the power button, and realized that Airplane Mode was incorrectly listed as being ON. I turned it OFF (assuming that this incorrect declaration may have been making WiFi and GPS, among other things, work harder) and within ten minutes, the temp had gone from 123.5 to a cooooooool 88.3 F..

That's a 40 degree swing.. So I could only ascertain that the incorrect Airplane Mode declaration was the culprit (Although I did set screen timeout to 15 seconds, and turned brightness all the way down, assuming the backlight issues in CM10 could be a problem as welll).

Either way, my battery is at 93.2 F right now with normal use, right where it should be. I have had my phone off the charger for almost 3 hours, with WiFi and GPS on, and have only lost 10% of my battery... Not too shabby :D

Also, I turned on Navigation when I left my house this morning, just to test the accuracy of the GPS, and I was relatively impressed..

Save a few instances where the marker went all "whackaloon" on me, and bounced all over the friggin map, it was spot on accurate (these briefs instances of inaccuracy were limited to about 1 1/2 to 3 seconds, not nearly long enough to cause problems).

All in all, this patch works, and I give two thumbs way the hell up :)

Good work ;)

That's awesome man I'm glad it's working. I was reading you saying your notification stays on is that still happening? Also if you're on bobz base try flashing johnnys paranoid port.. It fixes the backlight and the notification widget for Data.

That's really odd.. Try the paranoid port.. Honestly it's a nice looking port. Try booting into recovery first an fix permissions.. I really don't know why it's staying on for you. Did you flash it or do it manually.. I did mine manually obviously..

Not sure what the difference was... But I restored back to stock (at work mind you :P) because I never backup up my SMS and MMS, and reinstalled CM10 and the patch and everything, and it isn't doing it any more... not sure what it was...

Dude, had a sneeze attack on the highway coming home from work and took an exit in a very unfamiliar area til I recovered lol.. So, after I was all set, I decided to deliberately get myself lost.. After driving for ten minutes, and being COMPLETELY LOST I put the fixed GPS to the test.

Opened maps, locked in 3 seconds. Put in my home address, then entered navigation..

I'm at home right now... It worked flawlessly ;)

Thanks again :)

I've tried everything posted in this thread on BobZ's 5/21, but no dice. I replaced the file in the original post, I used the version F gps.conf, I even tried the gps_driver file posted later on, but I still can't get a lock no matter what I do. Is there any information I can provide to help debug this?

I haven't flashed the Paranoid ROM, but if you think that would help I will. I don't see why it would - what fix does it have within it that nothing else does?

Thanks for the work, Swainsmith82 and everyone else!

The paranoid port has framework changes that fix a lot of issues. It's what I'm running til we all can get everything fixed. Paranoid only sits on top of cm10, it's like cm10's jacket or necklace or whatever. Maybe I would try to factory reset and reflash the rom then the gps zip. I know a couple of people have had some issues but I think most got it all worked out. I however have not had any, I just reflashed everything from scratch to get rid of direct inject and it worked immediately. Try the secure settings app from the playstore. Or gps status and toolbox they have helpers that assist gps... Sorry you're having trouble I hope one of these possibilities will help you.

What version did you come from? Try to unbrick and get back to C, from there, root, install 2nd init recovery, flash CM10, then gapps, then the C modem, then gps fix. That is the order I went in and out worked perfectly.

SwoRNLeaDejZ, you are fantastic. That worked perfectly and I now have BobZ's CM10 with GPS working. I was coming from version F. In going from CM to C, I did have one problem where my phone would bootloop after the flash and I couldn't get to the wipe data screen to fix it (the screen you access by holding power and volume down as the phone boots). I had to flash F, then wipe, then flash C, then do your steps. But it works now.

You are amazing.

System reset for C is different from the rest of them. You have to yank battery, then put it back in, hold power and volume down until you feel the one vibration. At that instance exactly, you have to release power and start pounding on home and back at the same time repeatedly. It's all about timing, but if you do it right, the android guy will pop up and you'll be all set.. I had the same problem. Glad it worked for you though ;)

Well I unfortunately I still can't get it to lock. My gps refuses to find a satellite.

Edit: would it make a difference if I changed the permissions around a bit to rwx-rwx-r--

Edit #2: can done who has it working on bobz 5/21 build please send me both of their gps files so I can check if the ones I have are corrupted

Do you get a notification that it's trying to locate?

I'm telling you telling you telling you, if you still can't get a lock, unbrick to C and install CLEAN. Confirmed to work for one other person who couldn't get the fix to work before.. Tellin ya, unbrick to C and follow this order: Unbrick to C, root, install 2nd init recovery, flash CM10, then gapps, then C modem, then gps fix.

Took a 45 minute trip with the navi running and it was very on point. No battery drain, no overheating nan nada nada nan!!!
