Root Flash arhd

I thought that the AAHK was supposed to flash clockwork anyway, as part of the whole process... can it have done that, without having got ENG S-Off?

Not really up on exactly how it works... not had a proper look, as I'm already rooted... will prob at least have a read up on it!

ENG S-OFF is for flashing radios and differs to S-OFF (unlocking the nand partition, where clockwork resides).

Without ENG S-OFF, you can't issue fastboot commands and therefore can't flash a radio using the fastboot method.

There is an alternative way of flashing a radio using a PD98IMG.zip containing a radio.img file and some other stuff (you don't need ENG S-OFF for it, but I've never done it that way and the fastboot commands are pretty easy.

Knew about flashing radios... just wasn't sure!

Rooting, as was - via downgrade (with Gold Card), then S-Off tools - I just thought that I might as well do ALL in one go... no messing around later!

That could have been another thing that I could've done in the advanced hack kit... When you open it, you get a choice of what to do : pretty sure I clicked on the one that's supposed to do everything :-)

You wouldn't think Clockworkmod would require ENG S-OFF but for every bit of supporting documentation and every thread for each update ENG S-OFF always pops up as a requirement. I think its down to the fact that clockworkmod will work with certain hboot images and can be installed under any. However to guarantee it works out of the box with every function active and available it is recommended to flash ENG S-OFF HBOOT otherwise for koush would have to list every non ENG hboot its compatible with after having tested them all lol.

I'll bet my bottom dollar should you get ENG HBOOT your ROM flashing will work and you'll be able to reboot without problems.

2.Open my "Desire HD easy s-off.exe", click "S-OFF it"! Allow possible SuperUser request on your phone.

Yes you should tick you have radio s-off as thats what your bootloader said lol

Also ensure USB debugging is enabled and all your HTC Sync drivers are up to date and your plugged in as charge only.

What I will stress again though is as much as I can guide you from here, you are taking these steps voluntarily and therefore I will not accept responsibility for any damage that could occur to your device. One phrase I wish to stress is that "nothing substitutes a little reading and self research to enhance your comprehension".

Radio S-Off is Ship S-Off confusing is certainly the word. Once done ENG S-OFF means just that and is displayed as such in the bootloader lol

so all i need to do is plug in my rooted desire hd , with usb debugging on
and click on the s-oof now button in the easy of prgramme but with radio s-off ticked. then i presume i just sit and wait for it to complete ?

after that , i guess im full s-off , and i go on to flashing the arhd rom ?

also does it matter what kind of computer i use , as some people asre talking about xp 32 and 64 bit in the eng off tool thread ... and my pc's a little bit ...rubbish and running 32 bit windows xp.

Am I ready to retry the same off now? Sure I'm doing everything you said. If so, I'm gonna try it in the afternoon during my "revision" ;-)

also , really sorry again , but ive just remembered something which may be a great deal-
after i flashed ( or tried to ) ARHD , and rebooted my phone. I was stuck at the HTC boot screen. Stuck there for about 30 mins, and then battery pulled. went into clockwork by accident, and couldnt get out ...so i restored by nand back up ...
im not even sure if this makes a difference, but i thought it may help

:)

Shouldn't do as I was aware of the situation before replying. :D You won't have been able to get out of clockwork because the ROM install was corrupted somehow. Another tip would be to make sure the md5 sums match on the ROM you download and whats given in the main ARHD thread.

Or use my link here: https://rapidshare.com/files/1152488646/ARHD.zip which has installation guide included as well as the most popular apps and an easy to use radio installer.

Thanks alot mate. Could be cos I installed 6.1.3 and nows its like version 6.3... Hapy new year to you!

Also stu you didn't say whether my computer is still OK to use with the easy s-off tool?

Its going to be a case of suck it and see lol Some PC's work some don't even of the same Windows build. All down to how HTC device drivers are implemented from one to another and there is nothing definitive which is why there are no requirements for a certain OS in the OP of the s-off tool thread on xda.
