Root Flash arhd

Aaaaaaaaarrrrhhhhh....

Just got a message saying my su binary is out of date. Just after I did another nandroid, but deleted my old one. I no longer have super user rights. When I click to update to seems OK on checksum etc but when it gets to grant root access it says fail!!!? Heeelllppp

Actually I have super user rights, but it still won't let me update

... Sorry, it's all OK now

This weeks most impressive turnaround post! Like a thriller movie wrapped up in a single post.

Sorry to be going backwards but i thought that the AAHK s off the device. If I can, is it better to do it with the kit ir the easy tool you linked me to?

You are radio s-off at the moment but the confusing thing with that name is that it only turns off security for the ability to flash a recovery and a ROM but not actualyl a radio...you need ENG S-Off for that however, if you never had a problem with your signal before just flash this:

http://www.androidrevolution.nl/jkoljo/click.php?id=10

That is the corresponding RIL file needed for your current radio which will have been wiped when you flashed the ROM, as the ROM only contains the RIL for the recommended radio but as you are without ENG s-off you can't flash it and after my experience with it, its not worth the change if you were happy signal wise prior to the flash.

The tool to get ENG S-Off is really easy to use. There is minimal (none really) risk in bricking your phone. The danger is when you are actually flashing a radio... when I say danger, it sounds worse than it is... basically a bad radio flash can really knacker your phone. I haven't flashed a radio, as I've always been happy with my reception, but I understand it's not difficult. The thing to make sure is that you have a full battery when you're doing the flash, then you should be safe enough!

Right , well sorry to to posting on such a old thread , but im on my laptop now , just wanted to quickly ask if i need to do a nandroid backup before the s off process ?
and/or one afterwards?

You should be fine... I've never heard of anyone having an issue when running the tool... if you think you need to do one for your piece of mind, then do it. I did all that before I even started flashing ROM's and making backups... but do what you think is right - there's no harm in doing the backup (you can always delete it after using the tool), but it really shouldn't be needed!

think im ready to take th eplunge , but just a few quick questions -
1. do i need eng s-off ,or shall i try to flash again , making sure the md5 match
2. is there a link to the HTC sync drivers thing

I've had a look for some drivers recently myself, but not been able to locate them. I plugged my mates Desire Z in to the laptop and connected it in HTC Sync mode and my laptop downloaded them on it's own.

Eng S-Off will mean that your device is fully unlocked. As I said, I did all that before I started flashing ROM's and making backups and I lost nothing!

I'm now running ARHD even though I'm still Ship S off.. Would like to install a crt animation things, but the link of the xda site doesn't work
