I just rooted my TB for the first time. Can I flash the clockwork recovery to the phone? IF not .. how do I backup Roms?

yes. some sort of recovery(for now all we have is clockwork) is the best way to backup and flash roms.

download rom manager from the market if you dont have it. use it to flash clockwork recovery. you can use rom manger to boot directly into recovery, but IMO dont use it for anything else. rom manager can be problematic and unreliable. :)

Thanks,

I'm familiar with Rom manager from using it with my Droid. Just didn't know if it was gonna flash properly or brick my phone if I tried it. SO now that I got an answer I'm flashing it now.

edit: what is the key to press and hold when turning the phone on to get into Rom manager?

Thought this was for hboot....

it is. when you get to the hboot menu, select recovery and it will take you to clockwork. this is the only current way to get into clockwork from a powered off state.

quickboot works, but rom manager will boot you into CWR as well,so you dont really need that extra app on you phone if you dont want it. if you intend to flash a custom rom, most or all of them now give you extra options in the "power off" menu to reboot normally, into hboot,or into recovery :)

press and hold volume down when turning the phone on to get into Rom manager

rom manager is an app in your app drawer and is not accessible via power on/vol -

we knew what you meant, but i thot id clear this up so folks that come across it in a search later are confused. :)
