Flash randomly turning on during use?(NOT while using camera)

(I have used this site for a while to find solutions or find answers to certain questions I have had about my phone, and have usually found the answer, but this problem I am having is bad enough that I needed to finally make an account on here lol. I am new so I am sorry if I am posting this in a wrong part of the forum, and if I am, please notify me of what correct place to post this post)

So, lets just get the beginning out of the way, had insurance on my previous note 2 (which had NO problems what so ever), it got lost and then stolen this past weekend while I was with friends, mom goes through insurance, now I have a new Note 2 and today I just activated it.

The only problem is that the flash on the back of the phone, it randomly turns on when I get a text, and when I get a call it will turn on and won't turn off. At first I thought I had just pressed the widget button I have on my main home screen, and dismissed it the first time it happened (since it had turned off the first time). However though, when it happened the second or third time, it wouldn't turn off. Even turning on the flash light widget, all it did was make the light a bit brighter by turning it on, and just a bit duller by turning off the flash light widget (all the while though, the flash is STILL on), and then I had to turn off my phone. My previous phone had this same flash light widget so I don't think it can be the flash light widget causing this issue, but I wouldn't rule it out as being a possible cause. (They did update the widget so it could be that?)

This however does not happen when I get notifications related to email or facebook. (The past two days, my mother didn't have the chance to turn on my sim card, so I was just on wifi.) This all started after my SIM card got activated and finally being able to use my cell phone as well...a phone...

It's not a HUGE deal, but I honestly don't want to keep having to turn off my phone or taking out the battery just to ensure the safety of not draining my battery with this issue...

Unless this is an issue that is wrong with the inside of the phone, is there nothing I can do about this issue?
