Root Flash stock recovery?

I have a Verizon HTC one m8 and I'm trying to flash the stock recovery so I can download the new OTA, but it doesn't seem to be working? The steps I follow are:
1. Download recovery.img (I tried two different sites to ensure I got the stock recovery for Verizon variant)
2. Place in android folder
3. Open command prompt
4. Reboot phone into boot loader then fastboot mode
5. Run command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"

It seems to be successful on command prompt. It doesn't say any issues. Even gives me a time it took to send/write recovery. However when I rebooted my phone it still shows the red text about this build for develement only and the OTA won't install. It turns to a red triangle with an explanation mark.

Am I doing something wrong?

That sounds right to me, though I'm far from an expert.

That said, I was able to start downloading the OTA while on CWM recovery, so I don't think stock recovery is a requirement. My main reason for holding off is that I haven't heard for sure whether I'll lose root.

I'm also a little unclear about what exactly's happening when you try to install the OTA.

I'm sure the red triangle with the expel action mark is the stock recovery. Although I've no idea why you still have the red writing, sorry

So why would it show this while installing OTA? Should I just wait when it gets to that? Because I download the firmware and then install and the bar starts to fill then switches to the triangle. Should I then press the Button to get to the menu?

Okay, first of all what were you on before you flashed back to stock recovery? if you were running anything other than stock 4.4.2?
If you try to install the OTA over anything else it will fail.

Stock VZW HTC sense 6.0 ROM. I just checked and I'm on 4.4.2. I went from stock to Google play Rom then flashed the stock Rom which is what I'm currently on
