rooting wont give you flash either . you need android 2.2 which we do not have as of yet...leaked or official.

if you are still within your 30 days of original purchase you can exchange your fascinate for a droid x, if flash it such a big deal to you. (personally its meh)

its always best to research the phone you buy ahead of time to be aware of any limitations present in it or just to have a better idea of what you are walking into
