Help Flashdrive access, Acer iconia A500

I want to play music and watch videos from a 16 GB USB flash drive. On the Acer iconia A500, there seems to be no simple and fast was to see and play the files on the flash drive. Once the flash drive is inserted, it does "connect" but I want to be able to choose between music files and video files.

Any help would be appreciated. Thx

If you use your programs like music player and video player then just go into setup for these players and have them point to the folders where the files are.
Do you have a file manager like esfile explorer?

I'm not sure why it's not working for you, but when I put in my 8gb verbatim usb thumbdrive formatted as FAT32 then the stock AcerMedia app reads the drive and shows the available files.
For example my movies show on the video page as a folder called usb_storage, except that only .avi files show up.
That's why I don't generally use AcerMedia but as splatoid said, 3rd party media players generally let you set the location(s) to scan for files.

HC3.2 apparently supports NTFS file format but I haven't tried it out, maybe that's the problem you're seeing? Do you know how your flash drive is formatted?

I also find Astro file manager by far the friendliest. I can find my mp3 files on my usb flash drive and can play with google play music app any of the 400+ songs. what I can not do is create and save playlist. once I shut the iconia off, playlist only keeps the name and not the content. does anyone have any luck creating the playlist with any of the apps and save it?
