Root Flashing a rom and rooting

Do I need to root my Flytouch (when it arrives) to flash the rom. Or do I just copy the new rom onto an SD card pop it in the Flytouch and switch on, and thats it.

When my flytouch arrived, on the same day I just copied the 2 firmware files to the SD card, inserted, started and the updated without any problem. I have not done any rooting prior the update.

Yes most of the ROMs are already rooted, so theres no need for rooting your device once you've updated to a custom ROM.
