Help Flashing ball

I've noticed that the roller ball/navigation ball/mouse thing/whatever occasionally flashes.

I know it flashes on incoming call/SMS/e-mail etc., but it seems to be flashing at random when there's no activity.

Anyone know why?

You may have some app that uses that as a periodic reminder of and sms, missed call, email, alarm, whatever ...

I think I've figured it - it's when K9 checks for mail on the server.
