Root Flashing evo to CyanogenMod 7 ??questions??

So im so tired of android 2.3.5 and i was looking into flashing my phone.
But i have a few questions first

1. If i root my phone and something happends to my phone and i reload android 2.3.5 and i need to take it back to sprint will they be able to tell it was rooted?? ( i have had mixed answers on this!)

2. What should i root it to?? let me know why you think thats the best OS to root my EVO to1 (allot of the post i have read are old and we know how fast technology goes)

3. I'm new to the whole android system so for a NUB where is the best tutorial on how to root your Evo?

4. After i root my phone when over clocking the cpu on the phone is there a chance you can ruin it and not be able to put old android system on my phone so i can warranty it?

Please let me know your opinions and thoughts on this. if you can answer all the questions that would be greatly appreciated and if you agree with what someone else puts please add a comment saying you agree so i can go with the majority factor on this and do it..
:DTHANKS:D

1. YES sprint will know, but you can always unroot and install a stock rom and they would never be the wiser. Some people would disagree on principle, as it isn't technically moral, but it isi factual.

2. Rooting doesn't actually change anything on your phone except give you pernission to make changes. After rooting you would still have a stock ROM, but the ability to flash a custom one. I would suggest CM7 with one of the Tiamat kernels or Mik3.0 with one of the freedom kernels. Both of them are super stable and perfect for first time flashers, but after reading your post I think I would go with CM7.

3. That depends on what rom you have now. Go under settings - software and let us know what version you are running. There are rooting guides for 2.3.3 and 2.3.5 in these forums, and I would link them both but I dunno how :( .... (though I'm sure somone will do it for you)

4. Yes, yo must be careful when overclocking. If you set it too high (and have "set on boot" enabled you could get stuck in a bootloop, and overclocking in general will risk overheating of the battery. But it's not a permanent setting and can always be undone. Of course, just ask and you will get plenty of advice of where you should start and how high is too high.

Welcome to the forums and remember that we are all here to help with whatever you need. I recommend that once you've determined which guide is right for you, go ahead and read it a couple of time before blindly following instructions. Once rooted you'll be open to a whole new world of options that area all very exciting, but the more you educate yourself the better off you'll be. Good luck!
