Gang -

I'm sitting here at work, bored out of my mind and I'm staring at my phone wondering what fun I could have with it today. :D

I've decided that I'd like to flash the ICS leak over the existing GB RezRom 1.6. Unfortunately, I can't plug anything into my computer, lest my company rain holy terror upon me (I work for a major financial insitution and they get pretty jammed up about crap like that).

I remember there being a link on flashing without a PC, but the search function isn't working out atm. Can someone be so kind as to post said link and also let me know if I absolutely need a PC for the ICS leak?

Thanks!

you could download the leak to your phone, then move it to root of sd with a file manager, and rename it PH98IMG then flash it in hboot.

i would prolly advise against doing so,however.

you cannot downgrade the firmware, wich means flashing special patches if you want to run incompatible gingerbread roms/backups.

also, you may have to flash it multiple times, and its a lil scary  IMO its best to wait for a more official version, flash the stock GB RUU,then either OTA or run the official RUU then.

rom devs have patches so you can run the new leak custom roms on your current older firmware,so there is no real reason to run the ruu. just flash a rom in recovery.

some more info on what you may encounter when flashing the leak, start at this post: http://androidforums.com/rezound-all-things-root/521445-various-rom-problems.html#post4139576 then in post 16 is some more detailed info on what i went thru when i flashed it ;)

Thanks, Scotty! Just so I'm clear (and really, because I can be a total idiot sometimes), I'll need to follow the "mini-ruu" directions to get the ICS leak (found here in your post #2):

Then simply d/l the ICS leak, throw it on the SD card, do the standard backup & wipe, then install off the SD card?

if youre wanting to install the actual leak RUU,then you wont do any wipes. this is a hboot-installed file,so youll just need to rename the android police downloag to PH98IMG and assuming your sd card is FAT32,then your phone should automatically find the file and ask you to update when you boot to hboot.

as was said, you will need to be relocked to do this. following the directions to flash the mini-ruu and relock first should be fine :)

if youre wanting to install an ICS custom rom,no need for the mini-ruu,just boot or launch your recovery, make backup, full wipe, install rom, install patch for old firmware, install kernel :)

Scotty, I think I'll just go with the ICS rom for the time being and wait until there's a more stable version. Can I still just d/l the ROM to my SD card (without using the PC), boot/launch into recovery, make the backup (i'd also be doing a titanium backup), wipe, install rom, patch & kernal and then profit?

I think you mentioned the Patches are included with the roms? And any particular kernal you can recommend?

as long as the rom you choose auto installs the kernel, you should be fine to d/l to your phone, and then flash it from a permanent recovery.

remember when using titanium,do not backup system or other data. safest use for titanium is user apps. restoring system data and otehr setitngs across roms can lead to strange force closes and occurances. thats what nandroids are for ;)

as for the patch and kernel, most ics roms will include it. if you dont see one with a particular ics rom you want to try,you can use this one: Old Firmware Patch for ICS Roms - xda-developers

i just use the kernel that comes with the rom. im pretty boring when it comes to changing/modding kernels ;) might search around on xda for that one :)
