Root Flashing my first rom (liberty) help

Hey,

So i'm i have regained root after latest update fiasco (for me) and have just used Droid X Bootstrapper to create a backup. my question now is how do I apply a rom? I'm looking to use liberty 1.0 but I haven't seen anywhere if I need to be deodexed for it or not, and I heard Deodexing doesn't work anymore with 2.2.1 (right?).

Here is Rooolers guide that I plan on following. Is that what I should follow or is there a step missing there that is required to be able to flash liberty?

GUIDE TO FLASHING ROM(S)

There are TWO common ways to INSTALL a ROM. here is the FIRST WAY.

NUMBER 1
1 - Download the rom of your choice and place it on the "ROOT

Before you install a new ROM, you can/should backup your current ROM so if you don't like what's out there, you can go back to where you are at this moment.

This post in Rooolers Guide has instructions for doing this with Bootstrap only.

You can also use Bootstrap with ROM Manager to do the same thing, via a GUI.

I haven't tried Liberty, but a lot of people are touting it here. I can tell you ApeX is fast and clean.
Using it now!

yeah I backed up my old setup with the bootstrapper, but after trying liberty I don't think i'm ever going to go back. Liberty is awesome and thanks for all the help everyone, definitely worth it!

Make backups on a regular basis, and before making any changes like applying themes. Titanium Backup is another application that can backup user data, apps and settings. Very highly recommend getting Titanium Backup as well, you can set it up to do automatic scheduled backups to your sd card.

And because sd cards fail, copy your backups to your computer as well. ;)
