Flashing, new ROM

Hi, I just rooted my phone and installed a rooted ROM just like the stock one (Optimus V froyo phone) but I would like to try other ROM's.

I had just re installed a bunch of apps again etc. so by flashing a new ROM, would I be wiping blank the phone?

I am a newbie at playing with the android platform and don't want to minimize the risk of screwing up my phone so I better ask someone who has been there.

Thank you!

Use titanium backup and back up all of your USER apps. Then when you flash the new ROM then use titanium backup to restore your USER apps. Do not use it for system apps when going from one rom to another as that can cause problems.

It's only recommended that you wipe data when hopping ROMs. Sometimes problems can occur if you don't wipe the data. When I'm ROM hopping, I won't delete data until I find a ROM I want to stick with, then I go back, wipe /system and do a full wipe, then reflash the ROM just to make sure everything is solid.

You do have to wipe cache and dalvik cache before flashing, though. If you don't, it can get messy.
