Root Flashing ROM problem

ok, ive been around and talked to alot of people. Noone has been able to figure this out completely. First, what im trying to do is install a rom, preferably velocity, so that i can then flash R1 theme over it. Raptor has also caught my eye, i like them both. Ive got rom manager, ive got velocity 0.4 and raptor 0.1. I go into rom manager, clockworkrecoverymod, it flashs successful, then boot into recovery. wipe data/factory reset, clear dalv cache, then go to install from sdcard, this is exactly what it says after i select it, then go down to velocity_o.4_realease, scroll down through the no's and select yes. Then this...

installing, finding update, opening package, E:cant open/sdcard/velocity (bad) intallation aborted

some have said its a bad download but ive had like 3 different downloads...ive tried velocity 0.3, 0.4, and raptor 0.1....and im getting tired of trying ive been doing ti for days, i keep wiping my phone, im having to download things that im active on ect...please do your best guys

ive redownloaded them all numerous times, amd i did a factory reset on my phone and just re downloaded rom manager, and tried again, no luck...i mean this is my first time flashing roms, but I THINK the problem is with opening them when it says E:cant open...but ive had people tell me so many different things thru the past few days im confused, i just wish sumone had this same problem and knew how to overcome it...im getting very up happy

IT WORKED it freakin worked, all i had to do was format my sd card and deleted everything off of it...odd enough, but i just flashed my first rom and im extremely excited to have velocity 0.4, its amazing! thanks to all of you that assisted me in the process
