Help fluctuating backlight

Just got the desire from o2 as an upgrade. I've noticed that the backlight fluctuating when I use my phone, anyone else get that? any solutions for it. debranded and running froyo.backlight is at lowest setting.
 
Turn brightness up to about 40%, See if that makes any difference. Sounds like you could have a dodgey handset though.

If you hadnt already said its set to the lowest display setting, I would of said turn automatic brightness off.
 
IS it only happening when you're in landscape mode and are you running auto brightness??

Could be your thumb blocking the light from the sensor.
 
It happens on landscape and portrait. Happens when Im not even holding the phone but when I place it on a table. Worth me getting it changed?
