fly touch 3 review~~~

I ordered and received my Flytouch3 last week. I have been playing with it heavily since! It is a great product and value... it has it faults (see below) but for under $200 USD, it's an incredible buy and highly recommended if you're looking for an Android tablet!
1 - It's fast (1Ghz processor & 512MB) makes it run smooth on almost anything - The included media player is nice (plays all video formats, including 1080p) - Can be easily ROOTED (using 'Button Savior' to enable USB debugging & 'Z4ROOT' to easily root the device) - Has 2 USB ports & 1 microSD slot to add more storage space! - Comes with Android 2.2 "Froyo" - Big 10" display - HDMI 1080p output to TV!
2 - Speakers are incredibly terrible (low volume) - Not completely compatible with all Android apps (i.e. official YouTube app) - Various issues with Flash support (viewing webpages/Youtube) - Battery life is limited; 2-3 hours, maybe? I know if I leave it un-plugged and idle for a whole day, the battery will go dead by end of day.

Thanks!

Battery life on mine seems to be right @ 3 hrs. of continuous use, and that is with the WiFi and everything running all the time. My FT3 suposedly has the 6400 mah battery, or so the spec sheet from Chinagrabber claims, and I'm not sure if there is any way to independently verify it....an app maybe..?? At any rate, it's not terrible, but I had hoped for a little bit better longevity from the battery, but perhaps it's not realistic to expect with everything running full bore. I'm pretty sure WiFi is a battery hog, and I'm going to shut that down when not needed and see what the effect is. I'm also interested to know which apps can be shut down, idled, or whatever to conserve battery power, and what is the best way to approach it... ie. a "task killer" app or simply going into the apps tab under settings and "force close"...?? I'm a little reluctant to start closing apps willy nilly, and would really like some input from some of the more experienced folks like Mr. Smith on this subject. On a brighter note regarding battery life, I found an inexpensive mobile DC/AC power adapter-inverter from an outfit called "Cyber Power" that I believe has more than enough balls to power an FT3 from a car cigarette lighter or an airliners arm rest power jack. Available @ Wal Mart stores for about $40 or perhaps less on ebay etc., this (or something similar) should be a good solution for anyone who needs to run their FT3 for extended periods in a mobile environment. Anybody ever used one of these...??

The model I linked above may in fact be "overkill" for powering the FT3, I just don't know how to calculate the power requirements for a FT3 when connected to a device like this. Could be a lower priced, lower capacity model would work just fine.

I read the Fly Touch 3 thread...and I too just got my order...but it was an MA1002 series and not even an Android 2.2...I have to send pics to lightinthebox cust service...anyone else had this problem?

For the person who gave a review...what came in your box?

Thanks! I have told them to send me what I ordered and a return label for this one...otherwise, I will have to just get a refund and find one somewhere else. I have never had problems with LITB before. Shame on them.

the Whole "fake" FT3 thing is bogus. The Ibex is just as much a fake as any other brand, but they are of a consistent better quality than the others.

Unless what you ordered said specifically Ibex brand FT 3 then they have done nothing wrong. That said they have been one of the reseller that have sold a batch of FT3 with bad firmware. It works but if flashed with another version or custom firmware it will kill the Wifi. The important thing is to see how they handle your issue now. Personally I wouldn;t order a pad with a 4000mAh battery unless I was just going to use it offline. The Wifi and GPS will kill that battery quick.

A solid built FT3 P041 will run just as good as a disco, just doesn't have the custom firmware support that the disco models have.
