Help Flytouch 3 is not flashing.. Why?

boytoysoy

Lurker
I did a factory reset on my ft3 because the unit kept restarting everytime I plugged in my 700gb external HDD to it. It fixed the problem, however, after I did the factory reset, youtube vids does not work anymore n keeps saying adobe flash is not installed. I tried to flash the ft3 using the instructions from http://androidforums.com/gome-flytouch-tablets/307846-latest-flytouch-3-modded-roms-updated.html:

I copied the firmware2 and firmware-discovery into the root directory of the SD card and plugged it into the tablet when it is off. When I powered the tablet back on, it boots up directly to the home screen and there is no indication telling me that the ft3 is flashing. Please help.... Thanks!

Have you tried putting the two files onto a blank SD card?

How are you getting the files on to the SD? and can you see the files in "My Files" or a File Manager app?

I downloaded the Zip file onto my PC and extracted the 2 files onto my SD card. I could see the 2 files under "My Pad/SD1"

Try putting the SD card into your computer, downloading the zip file straight onto the card & then extracting to its root.

I hear people doing this many different ways. What works for me is.
1] Buy a new card for every new flash. Format to FAT32 (very important). Down load tim2b to you computer (not Epad). Unpack tim2b file, on computer. You should end up with 4 new files, transfer these files to your SD card. Make sure you don't transfer the Tim2b file also. Also don't transfer folder that unpacked files are in. Shut down Epad completely. Let set for 10 min. Make sure it is charging. Then install sd card into Epad. Hold down power button for 8 seconds. Screen should show that files are transfering. When it is done it will say to shutdown or it will shut down on it own. LET IT SHUT DOWN ON ITS OWN. Remove Sd card. then power up again but hold down button for 8 second. The screen will ask what version you want. Pick the PRO version. Your Epad screen will look different. There won't be hardly any icons showing. When you go to the next screen you will see all your old apps, You can move them back to your home page.

Now you have spent $10 and you should now have Flash 10.3, Sktype, Youtube, plus the unit will operate with speech recon.

Your Epad will have many bugs removed.

Now do the same thing with the TIM4E update. Again new SD card. If you jump right to this step with a new EPad it don't flash correctly. So do the tim2b first no matter what.

Your Epad will ROCK. Make sure to stay up with the new updates from TIM, he works hard at fixing the bugs. OH don't forget to donate to his great work.

Wow.... buy a new card every time? something a touch expensive there in that scenario. There is no logical reason why an SD card should work off the bat. I have the disco version of a flytouch 3 4gig and all I do is place the extracted two files on any SD card that may or may not be filled with programs files photos etc .. insert it and switch on the tablet. I have formatted a couple to test if it makes a difference.. it doesnt.

Im working with a colleague on the same issue. his machine isnot picking up the discovery file at boot up, and when he put my cards in (5 all running tims versions from a-e) it started perfectly. I have sandisk, sony, and generics.
Im wondering if a/. its a seating problem of the card or b/. a timing/speed/sd card not being the first in line disk to be checked.
more later if we figure it.

Mister W, I suggest looking at bootloader versions too. I reckon that that's the issue.

Im running a series of checks on how the card is removed from his machine. It would appear that if it is ejected without "permission" it corrupts some data. I took his card and formatted on a vista machine, copied tims 4e onto it and installed it no problem. I removed the card after shutting down the machine, installed some apk on it and then rebooted, installed the apk and then removed the card.

When I reloaded the two boot files and restarted the machine, it bypassed them again!

However it worked on my machine.

Next step.. boot loader values

whilst not directly related to this problem I have found that data corruption does occur when I use ES file manager and eject the TF card whilst the display is still showing the contents of the drive.

Just how do you unmount the udisk? The unmount iin MyPad doesn't work for the udisk!

A couple of posters have said that SDFormatter.exe seems to deliver the goods with problematic TF cards.. format it, copy the un-compressed files to the card and then use the safely remove hardware icon in the tray...seems to work
