Help FLYTOUCH Tablet PC 10" Flytouch 3 android 2.3/1Ghz Cortex A8/4GB/512MB/GPS

I've been looking for a tablet to purchase and the flytouch 3 seemed like a good deal, but i became suspicious when the only information available was the title of this thread. After some snooping around i found that clones of inferior quality are a common occurrence so i'm obviously concerned.

Is there anything you guys can take from the title to guess what kind of superpad i'm dealing with? They also have a 14 day return policy, so if i get it are there any measures i can use to check the specifications and see if i got my money's worth? It costs 149 euros btw.

On an unrelated note, i read you could also "root" the firmware? Could someone explain the process please? Not even sure what it means, just that it's something some people do.

No problem, Paulo! :)

I've moved your thread to the Flytouch 3 area for you.

Cheers and welcome to the AndroidForums!

Edit: also, let me know if you need this to be in the all-things-root area for the Gome Flytouch 3 tablet...I'll move it again for you :).

This is more commonly called a Flytouch 5 or 6

Paulo...you are contemplating buying a pig in a poke.

On the plus side it is one of the latest offerings of Flytouch that uses the Cortex A8 chip, on the minus side the name Flytouch is generic, which means there are a plethora of different models sold that are all slightly different and have different versions of firmware. As this one is new, if it follows the normal path, the supplied software will be somewhat cranky and there will not be many, if any, updates to make your playing experience better. Some owners will say that their tablet works fine.....but they usually haven't seen what can be achieved by refining the firmware.

On the other hand they are cheap. If you just want it to play with and get to know Android then it is well up to the job, if you are looking for a businesslike experience then look elsewhere. (and spend more money!)

There is a forum HERE if you want to take a look at owners issues.
