Help FM Transmitter for the DROID

I am looking for a way to play music from my DROID through my car speakers. I have the DLO FM Transmitter for the IPod Touch, and it works great. However, I can't seem to find an FM transmitter that supports the DROID or micro USB.

Does anybody know of one that's available? If not, are there any other options to play music through my car speakers?
 
Try the Motorola T505.

It's a Bluetooth speakerphone with a built-in FM transmitter. Your Droid connects to the T505 via Bluetooth and the T505 is able to stream music and voice calls through your car's audio system using the built in FM transmitter.

NO WIRES!!!!!!!!!

I have one and it works fairly well.

Is is possible to turn off using it as a speakerphone and only use it for music streaming? I don't want to use it for "hands-free" calling. I only want to use it for music streaming.
 
You can answer the phone on the handset and turn off bluetooth to avoid handsfree calling. A little bit of a pain, but the T505 is awesome for streaming music to fm. Took a 6 hour drive for Thanksgiving and I would guess I still had 70% battery left on the phone. The T505 has great battery life as well, and can recharge via cigarette lighter. I also like to use mine at home by setting it next to home stereo and playing whatever I want through my phone.

Can you manually change station? I have the perfect station in my town that works great with fm transmitters. However, the other fm transmitters don't find the station sometimes.

No, and that sucks.

My one and only gripe about it......being in Atlanta there aren't that many stations to choose from...and sometimes it picks an actual station (99.7).

I wish someone made a Bluetooth adapter that was a wired FM transmitter (plugs inline with the factory radio antenna).

I bought my wife the same one for her Zune. Works great with the droid and will recharge it since all you do is plug the USB cable into the cigarette lighter adapter thats powering the unit.. Allows easy manual changing of the station or auto if you prefer to let it find a station on it's own.
 
Lots of choices on Amazon. I've got a Monster RadioPlay 300 on the way. Plugs into car lighter, jack plugs into Droid, set the FM freq and you're on your way. I'll report later on how it actually sounds.

So you can verify that the Droid will indeed charge using this product? Most non-Moto chargers will not work with the Droid.

Same here, better than a LOT of other transmitters that I have tried.

Someone else asked about the manual choosing of stations, not really manual, but you can select another one.

When I first got mine, it chose a station. Used it for a while and was like WTF, I'm getting some crackling/interference here and there.

I turned off the T505, and I was shocked to know that it was on a full strength station, but it's internal FM blocked it almost all out! I fiddled for a few mins, got it to select a new channel.... turned it off, viola empty channel, and it's been working GREAT ever since!!!!!!
 
Does the T505 require the radio volume to be turned up to max in order to hear anything, or does it pump out enough power to make minimal changes to the vol?

Nothing worse than having to crank up the volume, and forgetting, or having the transmitter cut out... and turning the radio on. 4 billion watts of ear bleeding noise.

Yeah, I know what you mean... I leave the droid at like 80% and it matches regular fm radio very well.

Just watch when you plug your headphones in when not in the car..... that 80% can surprise ya :) :)
 
I also have the T505. Works great. No you do not have crank the volume to hear it. Google navigator w/Pandora playing in the background is sweet.

Pairing and connecting is fast and easy. The battery life on the T505 is very good. If your cars stereo has a aux input....easy buy a $5 cable. But if it doesn't, the T505 is the way to go.
 
Great info here!! Looking forward to hearing more. I am thinking about ending my subscription with Sirius radio... mostly listen to Lithium, Octane and a few other music only stations anyway...I think I can really use the Droid/Pandora combo and have basically the same thing! :) that would save me some cash per year. I only have a daily commute of basically 8 mins to work and back... so its not like I can hear that much during that time... :rolleyes: Road trips are a different thing... but been loving this Pandora since I got the Droid!

Great price on the Moto T505 on Amazon...put it on my wishlist. Still Shopping!

I have the belkin fm transmiter it has a slot for the reg. usb to plug in your charger as ur using your phone for music or even for nav the best one ive had its only 55 buck at best buy
 
Motorola T505.. I have this one and the connectivy/ linking up is quick.. Sounds very clear and neither the phone or the radio have to be turned up more than normal. It sounds just as good if not better than the cd/mp3 player:D
 
ahhh...I am torn between the Belkin and the T505. I would like to be wireless, but I want to be able manually set the station. decisions, decisions.

although you can't select precisely the T505 channel, work with it for a few mins to change the channel to one of it's "preselected" and you'll find one in no time.

I have a belkin under the seat collecting mold, it's not even worth the time to hook it up.

I ran it today on a 30-mile trip on the freeway. The Droid was hanging from the Moto vehicle mount (on the windshield) with Maps/traffic layer active and Pandora running through the RadioPlay set at 107.7 (Droid connected to charger separately). Flawless performance through the radio. The quality of the sound was AT LEAST as good as regular FM. Kudos to the Droid (2.0.1) for being able to stream the Pandora signal as well as the Google Maps/Traffic data without pause for the whole trip - and I also took a call on the BT headset during the trip.

The RadioPlay does take some experimenting to get the right FM channel to use, but you can set 3 separate channels and change between them as you tootle along to accommodate different signal strengths of real FM stations along the way. For $16, you can't beat it. :D
